I have a Pro Comp 7" lift, the rear sits about 1 inch too low and sags like hell with even the slightest amount of weight in the bed. I talked to Alcan Springs and ordered a leaf pack that is supposed to eliminate the 3" block, add a leaf and stock springs.

I ordered leafs to give me 7" of lift. After talking to a buddy, he says that's way too much. He says I only need to lift about 4". I'm confused. I'm getting rid of the stock springs all together. I want it to sit level with the front. Did I order too much spring?

I’ll bump your thread for you.

I haven’t used Alcan, but installed the most arched leaf (for long travel) that Deaver makes for my truck, and learned from my own and others’ experience that leafs start flattening out right away, if you carry heavy in the bed. Which is why guys that tow a lot like air bags.

As for yours, no matter what you do, leafs will flatten over time. It’s likely you’ll start out with some rake, that’ll go away after awhile. ... Hmmn, but probably no rake if you’ve got 7” of lift in front. I don’t know anyone that can anticipate exactly how to level using leafs; that’s not what they’re for. Plus, the limits on arch are based on OSHA regulations in shops where they’re made, so there’s only so much height you’ll get that way. Anyway, get as much lift as Alcan can sell you.

So, do I need the springs to lift the rear 7 inches or say 5 inches over stock. This is where my installer is questioning my decision. I thought that if for example, you lift the front 6 inches and in a stock sprung truck, you'd add either a 3 inch block with an add a leaf or a 4 inch block to get the front and rear level. If i'm removing the stock springs and not using the block or shackles would I not go for 6 to 7 inches of lift to replace the missing springs. Installer says the stock spring are lift 0.

Alcan springs says they're making me a set that will give me 6 to 7 inches of rear lift. Will my truck then have a two to three inch rake in the back. I thought that Alcan and I are on the same page and my shop is confused.

    Now, I'm confused.

Hmm now I am not sure what to do. I have a Pro Comp 6 inch with the same issue of the rear sitting about an inch low. From what I have read, that is very common with Pro Comp lifts. I was getting ready to go down the same road as you but just haven’t called yet. I thought my ask was going to be for a leaf pack to replace the stock + 4 inch block. Now not sure

I ended up settling on a 5 inch spring. Dude was confused and had me confused. You need to account for the factory rake built into the truck. A 5 inch spring should get me even with the 7 inch front. By the way, Bill Ford, the long time owner of Alcan retired and sold the company to his employees on October 1st. Didn't know this when I started down this road. We'll see how this all shakes out. Apparently he didn't sell them his knowledge too. Lol.
