Hello all, new to the group, I have a 16 Tundra SR5 with the bench seat, was pretty much a bare bones truck, have done a few things, love the truck but the cloth seats suck, on my second drivers side seat cover, want to do Leather, already found a local place and got a price, problem is I am struggling on what to do, Katskin is the site they sent me to, I'm thinking black but would like to do some kind of accent, stitching or inserts??? any one have any pics that has done this would be greatly appreciated

Here’s what mine looked like right after install. They’ve tightened up since then but I don’t have any recent pics. I did black with Lapis gray wing accents.

Katzkin price goes up with perf, piping, different colors, logos etc and will take longer if custom order. From a technical standpoint, you need perforated leather for cooling kits. Heat kits can be installed in both perf or non-perf.

I actually learned the hard way that the cooling kits require more than just the perforated inserts - there’s a different foam used when ordering the kits with coolers in mind. I ordered mine planning to buy the cooling kits at a different time, but was told they wouldn’t work correctly :(

Requires transplanting the middle seat section? (assuming the fan is underneath that area)

I didn’t ask for the details. John just said the coolers wouldn’t work with the kit as-built due to the foam and I didn’t ask much past that.

If you get cold winters, I think most of us highly recommend heated seats, the switches go wherever you want and it's fuse tapped to the panel by your left foot for power so only work when the ignition is on. The seats are all apart anyway.

I have the pleather. It seems to be durable. I like the look and feel of the upgrades...little concerned about my cattle dog and his 50lb feet. Do they scratch up easy?

has anyone seen or tried these? I know you get what you pay for but these look like custom fitting seat covers. Not meant to remove the cloth material it goes over it.

You know, Wet Okole seat covers are awesome...I have put them over leather seats for example...and they really worked well. They also have heated option. Something to consider given the significant ass-pain, cost and “tough on the hands” as upholstery work can be and if you aren’t careful, they will look like a loose pillow case.

Look at clazzio; I did katzkin on my 4runner and clazzio’s on my tundra. The clazzio’s fit very well, are priced similarly and removable. If you ever decide to sell the truck you can easily remove them and recoup some of your cost.

Seat heaters can be put under any seat covers, leather or cloth. If you want the heat and cool system then you have to order your leather covers with reticulated foam to allow the air to flow through the cover.

I just got a set of these in black. Came in two days ago. Am planning on trying to install them this weekend. I’ll let everyone know how it goes.

The fit is too loose. The material seems to be very good quality but the fit is too large. A good seat cover should be hard to slip on because of the tight fit. Tight fit gives a better result, wrinkles smooth out etc. I am in conversation with the seller and they seem to be wanting to help. They even offered to send a replacement set. But if the pattern is the same then we have the same fitment issues. I really like the look and feel of the material. It’s thick and firm.

Man that stinks, hopefully they can help you out with a new set. Keep us posted. I’m curious if you got a bad set or if it’s just the way they are. Maybe they need some heat to tighten up?
