I am not hard at all, I take good care of my stuff. I bought my 2007 limited new and that leather was excellent with 98k when I trade it in and it was sold by the dealer in less than a week. I will try and post pictures.

    Thanks

If you can see the 4 dots on the seat base. I believe that is caused by the vent holes that Toyota has on the inner foam so that the air can flow to the leather for cooling and heat. And Toyota wants to tell me it wear and tear.

The sag is from how you get in/ out of the seat.
The material /bolster cushion is the same on both sides of the seat however the concern is only seen on the exit side. Cushion material does break down over time.
As for the Dots, I see them. Your suspicion is likely correct.
OEM's typically use several different types of materials on seats even if it is just advertised as leather.
In order for seats to have a cooling function, the seat needs to breath so perforated materials are used.
The perforated section is likely a synthetic material (TPU/UL) either for better breath-ability, performance, durability, thickness consistency etc.
I have seen these materials dis-color when exposed to specific chemicals/elements. (propane forklift exhaust on parts in a warehouse).
I suspect that the TPU/UL is being exposed to something causing it to discolor. Sunscreen can also cause this to painted surfaces.
The dots would be something i would at least file a claim on to ensure Corporate is aware.

The side is from your entry/exit. I have 67k on my platinum seats and they are ok. I'm also careful of how I slide my 200lb butt across them.

I've been told that even in the 1794 edition the leather is nicer.. but its still not just the greatest. I wanted leather but ended up going wiht an SR5.. after a few years, i plan to get Katzkin leather and maybe heated seats when the time comes.

The platinum and 1794 have the same grade of leather. Different color and the suede inserts are the only difference. The leather is the same as the LS Lexus.

I have a 2017 Limited, is the leather in my truck of lesser quality than the 1794 or Platinum, or is it just different in appearance?

I think that is the best thing you did because there is a Big difference on the Katzkin material and workmanship

I don't know much specifically about the limited leather. I know that Toyota made a point for the 2014 update to say the platinum and 1794 had that leather. So my guess would be that limited isn't the same. They certainly feel different.

I have noticed they feel different. I know they have been using that softex in some vehicles, but they don't use it in Tundras, do they?

"Leather interior" means it meets industry standard % for leather content.
There is a big misconception that leather interior mean 100% leather.
You could source the "same leather" from one supplier but process and grade it differently to provide different quality levels.

Our 2018 Platinum Sequoia has real leather. I was told its Lexus grade leather. Whatever the case it appears to be of high quality.

My 2018 Limited Tundra has "pleather" as in synthetic leather, or fancy vinyl. Its high quality and will wear well over time if treated right.

Leather seats will wear well if you are mindful of how you get in and out of the vehicle, and keep them clean and conditioned. Neglect them and drag your full body weight across them getting in and out of the truck will cause them to look like shit and crack in a few years.

I’ve got a 2016 1794 and am experiencing the same issue. The wear on the front seats isn’t holding up well and I only use it on the weekends. I’ve got 50k miles on it so I’m hoping they don’t turn terrible in the next couple of years.

I have a 2018 1794 and don't have those dots. I have the little sagging on the side but thats about it. I would argue about the “wear and tear” to Toyota Corp since the truck is only a year old. I can see wear and tear happening after 5 years or so but not one year. Especially those dots.

I’m seeing some wear on the edge where I’m sliding in and out of the seat. I currently have 56k miles on a 2016.

Hi Ron can you send me pictures of your seat it will be greatly appreciated because I am getting things ready for Toyota Corp. At this moment they are telling me that it’s not covered and it’s wear and tear. I got my truck on 6/24/18 so it’s not even a year and this problem started in December. Thanks for your help

    Not many yet, mostly stock.
I’ve got a 16’ 1794 and I read a different thread about this issue. Since them I’m very careful on how I get in/out of drivers seat only. What I’ve figured out is don’t slide your butt over the outside bolster. It takes the most wear & tear.
The rings that are appering, no doubt from heat / cooling mechanism. Is your truck still under warranty ? If so I’d go back to dealership and pitch a bitch.
That’s just me, my dealership appears to be a fair one. Good luck, keep us posted on any up dates.

I this point, I have opened a case with Toyota and waiting on them to send a rep to look at the seat and make a decision on replacing. I understand your explanation on getting in and out of the truck. But that should not be the cause especially when you pay 50k for a truck. That is Toyota BS and they are playing with the wrong person. That is the reason I want as much pictures and miles of people that has one of these truck. Note this is my second tundra and I had absolutely no problem with my other leather and it had 98k when I sold it. Thanks for your help

Thats weird..looking at my seat with the naked eye, I dont see any circles but in the pics I posted, you can see them very faint. Is this the same scenario as you or you can plainly see them?
