Replaced the interior lights today with LEDs. Everything went well except for the drivers side map light. The halogen bulb worked fine.

I removed the halogen bulb and inserted the LED bulb. LED bulb didn't work. Tried other LED bulbs with no joy. I checked out the housing and it looks to be "off". I tried bending the connectors where they would all touch the LED however that doesn't seem to work either. Not sure how the halogen bulb was working and now LED won't.

The passenger side map light was a simple remove and replace, with zero issue and I did the same thing on drivers side with these issues.

    Any thoughts? Map Light.jpg

Did you try reversing/flipping the bulb?

Yes. I tried flipping bulb and using other bulbs. I removed the one working in passenger side and tried it and it didn't work. Very confused.

Have you tried checking for power at the connector? Maybe you blew a fuse, or worst case, something on the other side of the connector has come loose.

In my opinion, the overhead console/light is the worst design (and engineering) on the gen 2.5 truck!

I agree. When I did mine I felt like a surgeon with how cautious and precise I felt I had to be.

Is the fuse for that light in the fuse box under hood? I looked and couldn’t locate the label for it or I just don’t know how it’s labeled on the diagram.

I had a similar issue. there are several write-ups about the issue on here. I had to pull down the console and reseat the circuit board they in worked fine. I would still check the fuse first.

Not sure where it is on a 14, maybe somebody with one can chime in. I would think its probably labeled dome.

I'll show my lack of knowledge here: I consider the light I am having trouble with map lights. The dome is the light in the middle of roof. Does Toyota consider both lights (map and dome) as "dome" on the fuse box label? Dang diagram is confusing. haha

I mean is that particular fuse located in the main box bc I looked and didnt see it. Also, if one map light is working and the other isn't can that still be a fuse?

Map light is correct, but I'm not sure I've ever seen that as a description for a fuse, although I could be wrong. Just check all the fuses that have anything to do with interior lighting to cover all the bases. :)

    Anyone have this happen……

had a led swap on our 21 Seqouia- no problems. One led started flickering so replaced it and boom- everything blown. Replaced fuse, didn't work. Pulled overhead console and nothing seems wrong with it, tried bending tabs and reinstalling- still zero lights coming on throughout the whole car.

The problem is most likely the switch that you push to turn the map light on and off. When you put in the led light and if it shorts the weak link in the circuit is not the fuse, but the switch. It actually fries the switch before the fuse blows. You can buy just the switch on EBay/Amazon but Toyota doesn’t sell just the switch. Do a search on it. I did a write up on it and where to get the switch.

Also switch your fuse to a lower rating fuse so it doesn’t happen again.
