New to this page, I picked up a Leer shell for my truck. Previous owner stated he had it wired to lock/unlock with his key fob. Stated it was a PITA to do so. I was wondering if anyone here has done it and knows what wires to tie into? I also have the locking tailgate so could I not tie into that? TIA

Not a pain at all if you already have your tailgate wired to lock you just tap into those same wires. I have my tailgate and leer cap both wire to lock with the fob.

Since you recently bought a leer shell, I figured you might be a good person to ask. I recently bought a leer camper shell and have the wiring harness. I have hooked everything but there is an extra plug that I believe has to be run back to the battery. My question is did you have to run a line back to the battery in order for your brake light on the shell to work? Right now I've hooked everything up but I'm not getting power to anything so I'm assuming this is because I need to run that last connection back to the battery.

No you dont need to run it to the battery. You pull out your taillight and tap into the brake light for the third brake light. For the dome light you can tap the taillight wire but then you can only use the dome light when your taillights are on.

Anyone have any experience with the simple two wire wiring. The dome light with acc switch on is not convenient, I will see what I can find with my probe light.

I would suggest running a two pair wire from the cap to under the driver footwell.
When I had my previous tundra with a cap, I wired the cap dome light to the footwell light.
It would turn on with the cabin lights, fade on/off and if needed on for a long period, just leave a door cracked.

I am planning at some point to wire mine to the bed light so I can turn the dome on and off with that switch. Any 12v will work though but unfortunately I believe there is no constant 12v on the trailer hitch either.

it was my favorite when I would unlock the truck and the cab and cap would all fade on and be illuminated.
