Leer caps?

Ordered a new cap from Leer back in January for my new Smoked Mesquite which was delivered in March. Cap was still not in. Called dealer for update but kept getting his answering machine. He had for warned me there were parts problems so the cap was going to be a 3-4 month wait. I was ok with that . Finally contacted Leer and their district rep called me direct to tell me dealer never ordered my cap? Rep informed me of a dealer closer to me that I should order from and they would push me to the head of the line for the original dealer messing things up.
So now having same problem w new dealer?
Does not return my calls when I talk with them or leave a message.
We did get our original deposit back - only $200. New guy wanted $1000 but they seemed on the up an up so I didn't have a problem with this.
I have only owned Leer and have been very happy w their product so I'd like to get another but I'm gettting really disappointed.
Anyone else having problems or not?
Does Leer read this forum and have a comment?

I ordered a leer in smoked mesquite and it came in within 3 weeks. And that was back in April. I got the 100XL with the folding back window, carpeted, and rails on the top, and it locks with factory remote

 

I would call Leer again to find out the status of the topper that you ordered. If it were me I would remind the Leer rep that you went with their dealer recommendation. Maybe they will rattle his tree from their end to get you an answer from the dealer. You could also file a complaint with the BBB to get the dealer's attention. A thousand bucks won't change the world but it's a lot of pennies to blow off.

I ordered a topper from A.R.E on April 4. The projected ship date is July 1. There is a world wide resin shortage because of COVID. It's causing some back order issues and price increases but if they put you at the head of the line you should have a topper already.

 

That Mesquite looks nice with a cap I'd say. I'm a lot closer to the factory than Texas being in Maine so you'd think ordering in January I'd have it by now. Sounds like you ordered what I ordered for the same package. Maybe you gots mine??
All I've ever had for the last 30+ years on all my Yotas is Leer caps. Aluminum to fiberglass. Been pretty happy with all of them so this is my first bad/horrible experience with the company. Not ready to file with BBB or make a complaint with the company yet but I was curious if other customers were experiencing same problems- due to Covid or Whatever. Don't want to rock the boat just yet - willing to give some leeway due to the times but man I feel like I've been patient. I dont want to sell my '10 until I get a cap on the new one but I 'd like to sell it before the market swings the other way.

So I'm having the worst time w this company. Owned Leer caps for 30 years and never had problems w them. Are they going under has anyone heard?
Has anyone bought a Leer cap lately?

 

I cant tell from what you have said so far if you are having trouble with Leer themselves or the Dealers that you have tried to order through?

Also how far North in Maine are you?

 

So far three dealers. One in S Maine, one in Bangor, one in Augusta. And, dealing with Leer District manager I'm getting no response.
Just wondering if anyone heard they going bankrupt or something. These seem like bad omens.

 

Where is Leer located?
I imagine this has been tough times for them too but sure no excuse for crappy customer service either.

I know that Leer and Century are the same company now and I think they own a few more shell makers too but if anything you would hope that would make them more responsive not less.

I am supposed to be in Downeast sometime soon to do a little work,on the island,how far up are you????
