Here’s mine 10.1 Joying with removable screen. I’ve had it for a couple years now no issues yet. Lol
Android based with wireless Apple Car Play, and able to use steering wheel controls to control.

Phoenix PX6! Works with steering wheel controls, but I use a remote with physical controls in the lower-right corner in the small cupholder where the buttons fall under my fingers when my arm is on the armrest, where it pretty much always resides.

Here’s my Leekuudoo 10.1 android I just installed last week. Still talking to the company on eBay about losing my steering wheel controls. I think they sent me the wrong canbus harness. Had to use the harness without canbus. But everything works. Still trying to figure out how to get my iPhone to CarPlay still too. Not bad for $160.

I just installed an EONON Q03, functionality is good- still trying to get the sound I want though. May I ask where you pick up Canbus data? Still haven't figured that out yet.

Go to settings, then go to car settings and canbus should be in that menu. You’ll need a passcode. Mine is 8888. It might be different for your model. There should be a YouTube video for passcodes if you can’t find yours. Good luck.

I went with the The Joying Model JY-TQ167N4G-B. I like the real volume knob instead of capacitive buttons, that it supports SIM cards for data, and that it conforms to the dash shape. A bonus was it plugged right into the existing connectors.

Do any of these have Sirus xm? I dont like using my phone to stream it, since the signal is so much better when its built into the headunit.

You should be able to download the Sirius xm app on the android units.

I was eyeballing the joying model but that was running around $300 for pretty much the same features.

I had a Sirius receiver installed when I had my headunit and Meastro installed. My headunit did not have a Sirius receiver built in, but it has a connection for an external Sirius receiver. The sound on mine is noticeably better through the headunit hardwired to the Sirius device than through a wireless connection to the Sirius app on my phone. (I have an iPhone and use wireless Carplay).

I have a JVC KW-M740BT, it sounds fine, has CarPlay, and does SiriusXM, but I’m not too crazy about it. It sometimes resets itself and regularly gets disconnected from my phone. I’d like to get something that’s more reliable, does wireless CarPlay, and has a larger screen.

*Side note: My truck didn’t come with steering wheel controls, but I added aftermarket. I may try a steering wheel swap at some point to one with controls.

I’ve never owned a cheaper head unit but they look pretty damn impressive. My concern is loss in audio quality? Especially when adding quality speakers and subs. Any feedback here?

I installed the Eonon head unit posted above in the thread. I was concerned about audio as well, what I have found is the preamp output voltage is pretty low on these but with some gain adjustment and EQ settings it is not bad. So far I'm quite impressed with the functionality and features. Wireless Android Auto is great.

Interesting, I wonder if any of these other brands that make this style have addressed that issue. I’ll have to do some research

    thanks!

question, when you bought yours, what was the power output? I’m seeing a lot of these with 4x50w and most name brand head units are 4x55w so it’s not terribly far off. I have seen a few of these head units on eBay at 4x45 watts.

I guess my question is really, are you not seeing advertised power outputs or is the one you purchased one of the ones with lower output to begin with?

    thanks!

The advertised wattage output on my unit was 45x4, but I was referring to the preamp voltage output, which was just shy of 2 volts. A gain adjustment on my amp compensated for this though. I'm running four 8 inch subs (I have another thread on this that I need to update) and I'm quite happy w/the sound. I'm still running the door speakers on the factory internal amp for now, but will be putting those on an amp soon. If you plan on keeping your factory speakers and running no amp, it will sound better than stock, however I'm skeptical of the 45x4 rating on the unit itself.

I got tired of my JVC unit messing up, so I replaced it with a Jensen CAR910X. I also attached a CarPlay wireless adapter and tucked it into the little Dash cubby (yes, I realize I should’ve just done the CAR910W with wireless built-in). I’m pretty happy with it.
While I was at it, I hard wired a USB port behind the dash and connected it to a flush mount MagSafe charger and double-sided taped it to some button blanks.
So now I can charge and navigate and whatever else with no wires.

The swap was easy to do, but pricey d/t needing the airbag cutout for controls. I think it ran me about $400-$450 total for steering wheel controls, airbag, and a basic pac-swc module

Hm, pretty straightforward, huh? I recently saw a complete wheel with controls on eBay for $150. And saw the thread on from nearly 15 years ago. I’ve been going back and forth on doing it - some folks on that thread seemed to have a hard time of it.
I just replaced my head unit and my aftermarket one won’t work with it. So it’s rather tempting to want to do the swap

most of the wheels I saw on eBay didn’t come with airbag modules, I had to order one from an online salvage yard. But if it does include airbag then that’s a hell of a deal

The steering wheel swap part is easy. Running the wires wasn’t too bad either. It was tapping the correct wires and adding the swc module that gave me the most headache. Took like 7 tries of programming before I got it to work correctly

interesting. If I got it I think I’d go temporarily with stock setup for door speakers with amp for my 2 12s. Later on id get amp for door speakers. I really love the look of the unit.

Anyone with comments on the glare?

I added a very cheap one (Sub $100) to my 1G Sequoia, and the glare is so bad it's useless at times. For the Tundra I'm looking to spend more but worried about the glare. Windows aren't tinted yet, but they will be shortly.

There’s a thread somewhere about a guy who did a 2.5 steering wheel swap with controls, I can see if I can find it, wiring seemed pretty straightforward if you are even moderately decent at understanding wire diagrams. It’s definitely a mod I’m doing once I move to interior mods
