Maybe they say you are full of crap because you are extreme in your views? I don't know what you say. There are degrees of lift and degrees of good/bad.

I agree with @alb1k he can be a bit extreme but technically speaking he's not wrong, the increased angles are going to cause more wear and tear blah blah blah...It's just to what degree - a proper lift there's less risk but most people don't do a proper lift, they go for the cheap stuff like spacer lifts that are done for looks without considering performance and longevity, I think that's what he's referring to.

Anyway, I find his videos entertaining and educational and that's what's made him so popular on youtube. Plus he's got a driveway full of toyotas, the man knows what's up

side note- he needs to help his grandson find some tires, quoted $600 ea?!

Yes. @pyrite808. I take exception with the title and "lifted trucks" as though all lifts are a problem. Some are necessary, some are stupid. It's about why you lift and how you lift, and to what degree.

Mine is a stupid lift, and I wouldn’t change it. To each their own.

I knew the risk when I bought it, and I’ll deal with any issues that come from it!

    I personally can’t stand Scotty.

Scotty Kilmer while technically correct, exaggerates things to extreme. Basically clickbait subjects.

I don't mind listening to him. Kind of reminds me of my uncle who still goes on about how good his old diesel LC was. My wife hates his voice too, though, so I don't watch any of his videos any more.

Scotty is doing what he needs to do to make $. The more polarizing he is the more attention and $$$. Some of what he says is truth and some is BS.

Its slightly different with every vehicle and lift size. But a "lift kit" is most of the time the bare minimum needed to lift said vehicle. There aren't many "complete lift kits" out there and when you do find one it's normally around $10k
A "lift kit" normally contains front lift method , rear lift method and any thing for that method to be added or to work. Kits normally don't contain things like diff drops, axel pinion angle shims, driveling bearing drops, longer drive shafts, longer brake lines, relocation brackets for abs or brake lines, longer steering components like panhard bars, longer sway links, New bump stops. I'm sure I'm forgetting a few things to be added. While some "lift kits" may offer some of these items as step up option they rarely will contain everything. It is up to the owner/purchaser to source and acquire everything needed to support the "lift kit" for the lifted vehicle. A properly lifted truck should have 0 Issue and remember before "that person" chimes in and talks about added stress of larger tires, larger tires is not a requirement of a lifted truck and comes with its own needs and supporting items. The issue is people group a poorly made or incomplete lifted truck and large tires with out supporting items as a quote on quote "lifted truck bad" :D

I'm sure I'm in the minority but I actually enjoy watching Scotty. It can be entertaining... especially at 1.5x speed. Also, try it at 0.5x speed.
