    Hi,
So, just got a new to me 2016. I’m looking at adding a 40” light bar in the grill, and I’m talking to a shop near me, and they’re saying they think a curved bar would be required due to clearance issues.
Just wondering if that’s true, as there seem to be more options available in straight ones.

(And hey, if you have a recommendation on a bar, I’ll take that too. :))

    thanks!

Thanks @Jim LE 1301. I was looking at the Cali Raised setup, which supports a 40” (or 42 actually, I guess) which got me looking at the baja 40” straight bar, and I was trying to figure out if it’d fit without big headaches.
I’ll read through the install you posted.

Unless a transmission cooler is installed then you will have fitment issues.

Curved light bars work for roof top applications.

I had a straight mounted behind the grill and it fit perfectly.

The mount offers 3 locations, from bottom, the center or top, you should be able to mount a straight, just depends on the fitment of the brand you want to run.

Yep. The trans cooler that i have only leaves 2 inches between it and the back edge of the grill. Most light bars are 3" deep.

The OP's truck and the one you quoted are both pre 2019, so they should have the factory coolers. If it worked in the 2017 then the OP's 2016 should be fine as well, shouldn't it?

Good point. I forgot about the coolers being the norm until 2018.

    Thanks @Stumpjumper - that’s really helpful.

Now it’s a choice of spending $$$$ on something like a Baja S8, or be more realistic and try to find something only $$ but still durable/good output…

Thanks for the tag Adam :fistbump:
Have you circled around to where you are planning on mounting the bar? As @SwitchThrottle linked we have a lower grille light bar kit that we offer, but if you want it behind the grille there's some other options as well. As for the budget it all kind of comes down to how much light you need, what features you need/want, etc. Happy to help either way!

Ive just gotten the truck, and I’m just looking at it. It seems the grill would block a fair bit of light…? But I’ll send you a PM and ask annoying questions.:D
