Just picked up a 2016 tundra platinum cm with under 17k miles. Previous owner, who I know, updated me on the problem he’s been having on the truck and said the problem doesnt affect the drivability of the car but is just annoying. Multiple lights and warnings come on randomly. He said it started after he had an aftermarket sound system installed. He took it back to the stereo shop and they said it was installed properly. He took it to toyota to get it diagnosed and was told the error codes are pointing to the factory amp. Toyota said they can rewire it back to factory system but he would loose all the aftermarket stuff installed. Pressed for time due to an upcoming move (military) he decided to hold off on the repair until he came back. Fast forward, i ended up purchasing the vehicle for 20k knowing it had an electrical issue. Anybody have any idea what could be causing the problem before taking it to stereo shop to check the stereo install? See picture of the problem...but it drives like a dream with no issues at all less the dash board lights and warnings lights flashing. Im unable to upload the video on here but its these lights coming on and the speedometer needle bouncing around while driving. Any ideas .

I can't see how installing an aftermarket HU would cause this, unless it was installed wrong.
Maybe ask the seller who installed the aftermarket HU and contact them with this issue.
Looks like someone cut a wire that they should not have.

Do you have the original HU?
If so, reinstall it, should be plug and play.
If not, pull the aftermarket HU and check all connections.

I'm guessing the installer used a Maestro or something to retain steering wheel controls.
Find out what they used and google a wiring diagram.
    Check all those as well.
Maybe someone cut the wrong wire trying to connect the OBD connection.

I would say you can bypass, or replace, the factory amp.
But I really don't think that amp wiring is the issue.

Welcome to the forum from Dallas..

Thanks for the reply and welcoming me to this forum.

The HU is still the factory JBL but all speakers and amps etc were replaced with aftermarket. When the truck was looked at by Toyota, they first thought the problem was with the Steering wheel control harness so they replaced that. Previous owner said after driving off the lot, the lights came back on and he turned around and took it back to the dealership, thats when a diagnostic test was performed which pointed to the factory amp. I’ll pull up the wiring diagram and retrace their work and see if I can find a loose wire or something easy.

    Thanks for the reply unclebeejo808

Im originally from the small plantation camp on the side of Kam Hwy by the Dole Cannery in Wahiawa... lived there for 23 years before moving to Washington State

I’ll definitely check the ground wire on the amp to make sure its grounded properly. I hope it’s something as simple as that. Mahalo brah!

I was thinking you had an aftermarket HU.
So when the aftermarket amp(s) where installed, they removed the factory amp?
What amp(s) did they use, and how it the amp connected to the HU speaker output; LOC, speaker level input, etc..?
Did they replace the JBL sub or is the factory sub being used.
Does the audio system sound OK?
    Anything sound off?
I don't have a JBL in my SR5, I know they have different wiring than the regular Entune (that I've replaced with a Kenwood).

I have 2015 factory wiring diagrams, let me know if you need anything specific.

Sorry for all the questions, but I'm really curuious to what the problem is.
