Asked about bed lining my chrome bumper ends when I got the bed done. I was told they won't even attempt it. Too much prep required and no guarantee it'd stick even with prep. YMMV

I'm sure it's been done with Line X. I stole the idea from @BlueRibbon4x4 . I Plasti dipped then spray can bedliner. I believe he used Raptor liner. So far has held up great

did my front/rear bumpers (chrome originally) as well as toyota grille emblem.
Done at the same time as the bed. Line-X premium. Still looks the same as when it was applied which was maybe 5 years ago.
Imo looks great and rugged. subtle on a black truck too.

I went through your build thread but no close ups of the grill, are you able to post some pics?

I saw this in a parking lot recently. I assume this guy's grill and whatnot was covered with Speedliner, which is available here locally (Line X is not). IMO I thought it looked like s**t. That said, Line X could look OK as it's a superior-looking product to Speedliner, to me at least. The guy came out and caught me looking at it and he was quite pleased with how it looked, so to each his own.

Also, unless you spray Line X for a living or have a bro deal, I would think that would be at least $100. There are no shortage of videos on the 'Tube of people doing stuff like this DIY style. I had great results using Seymour spray on liner (about $8 can on Amazon) on some ammo cans. Maybe go to a junkyard and get something that's similar to the grill to use a test case. Or go nuts and sand with 80 grit, then a self-etching primer, then maybe an automotive primer, wet sand 600 grit, then spray, but at that point, you're probably up to $100 anyhow.

A guy here did his rear bumper. He has a second gen with the full chrome bumper. It looks good. A local shop quoted me 250 if I take it off or 350 if they do. Since it has to come off to replace the bedside, I'm going to talk to the body shop this wee to see what I can work out.

Diy spray bedliner, adhesion promoter and self etching primer.

It didn't cost me much, was a fun project with youngest son and survived -40 winter. I even used a cheap Kijiji grille that I found for $50, in case it didn't turn out.

I'm happy with mine. Texture is similar to factory bumper, not rough like Line-X. Way better than the plastic chrome. I touch up the odd pock mark every 6 months with a black sharpie.

That looks good @BravoDeltaRomeo! The mild texture looks great. If it's not too inconvenient, mind posting another photo from further back so we can see the whole front end?

Wow that really looks great. Maybe this is what I'll do... I have all the oem parts in my shopping cart at Sparks Parts right now and it's right at $1,000.

Where did you find that grill insert?

It's my stock insert with the TSS.

I removed it and put it in the donor grille surround. Prepped and sprayed the donor, let it cure a few days, then put in my insert, reinstalled on truck. The donor grille was from a non-TSS year and the insert was damaged.

I'm cheap. No way I was paying $$$ for a black surround before attempting a DIY version first.

    Too many, but not enough....
Ive really been thinking hard about raptor lining my chrome grill white to match the truck for the same reason as Bravo, no way i am going to drop a grand just to match color!

Does anyone have any experience with the white Raptor aerosol cans on chrome?

    Is this raptor spray?

    Alot of them
The problem with the bulge is that Line-X is thick and encapsulates the entire piece so you may not have a good grip with the attachment clips.

I have my chrome grill and hood bulge line-x. The whole truck has been covered in it to included all the extras put on. I think I had it all done about 9 or 10 years ago I think. It has held up well. Just make sure they don't spray the whole thing. Just the front. It is just now starting to show a tiny bit of chrome around the edge. I'm thinking about upgrading the grill and I will have the new one coated again.

Here you go. You can see the little bit of chrome starting to come through. Not bad for as old as it is.
