Lock While Running

We always leave our car running and lock the doors while we run in somewhere if our pup is in the car. Most push starts you can leave it running and take the keys with you but lock the car. Has anyone figured out how to lock the truck with the engine running. We use the app remote start but that only runs for 10 minutes.

 

I haven't tried with my new truck yet, but on my wife's Corolla, the only way to do this is to lock the doors using the key after you've exited the running vehicle... Annoying, very annoying...

 

I’m hoping this is fixed as an OTA update along with the “shut off” when opening the door after auto start. While they’re at it, maybe fix the “touch key to button” requirement after using the app to unlock the doors before the truck can be started. That’s been irritating.

 

I just wish there was a way to start it with remote and it stay running when you open door.

 

It won’t happen. Toyota programs that into the truck for what they consider safety. The Tacoma guys have been trying to come up with a workaround since 2016 and it doesn’t look like it’ll be possible unless Toyota changes their programming from the factory. For the Tundra, it’s likely something everyone will have to live with

 

Roll down the window, close the door, hit the lock button on the driver’s door then auto-up on the window. To unlock you’ll have to use the metal key.
