I'm looking for a decent powered sub to put under my seat on my 03 access cab. I'm thinking just an 8" should suffice. I've got a 10" kicker in box with separate amp in my 06 access cab, and I have to keep it turned down (like -4dB), otherwise its too loud for my rock music.
Anyways I just want to fill out the sound a little, so my door speakers don't rattle when the bass is up and volume is at like 15-20 on my pioneer.
Everytime I think I found a powered sub that I like, the reviews scare me away. I trusts yalls opinions more than people on scamazon and crutchfield. So what y'alls reccos?
I like the Kicker 51HS8, just not the price. Plus some of the reviews are bad. I don't know if these people install in their trunk instead of under seat or just expect too much. But a handful of reviews mention that a lot of these powered subs in general just break after the warrantee runs out.

Are you seeking a shallow-mount powered suggestion here? Or just asking in general?

They work fine for low-end fill and some of the shallow ones actually will provide some kick. You’re not going to win any SPL comps and Neal Peart isn’t going to be kicking your back during drum solos, but your stereo will sound markedly better than stock with one. With the popularity of shallow-mount subs rising in the last decade or two, and spare-tire-mounted subs, people are finally taking powered subs more seriously than we did back when I was last working at a shop, when everyone would mock powered tubes like what Bazooka put on the market way back then.

Several 1st gen guys are running them in various ways. The most important thing is, run proper power and ground. See what your unit is rated for, what they recommend for wiring gauge. Many I’ve seen are using compact class D amps that only call for 12awg power lead, some 14awg, which is super easy to pass thru the 1st gen OEM firewall grommet (re-tape after; use fusible lead with fuse 12” or less from batt terminal; don’t repurpose/tap off a thinner lead in the cab).

    I'm open to suggestions.

I like the Kicker options but they're expensive.
DK recommended this one, said he's ran it for about 14 months now and likes it.

I have been looking at this one for my 2011 Crewmax:
    https://www.crutchfield.com/p_575P30010T/Rockford-Fosgate-P300-10T.html?tp=114

    (I have a Kenwood DNX996XR headunit, Memphis M Class tweeters, component 6x9's, and 6.5's).
I'm not looking to make my neighbors wet the bed from 3 blocks away. I just want to round out the sound from my current system and just a little more hit on the bass end. I'm not necessarily trying to go on the cheap, but I really don't need or want a bigger bass system than that.

I have the 10” kicker hideaway that I have under the rear seats. It IS pricey but it far outperforms the others in its class. I have heard the Rockford fosgate and had the kenwood previously….they don’t compare to the kicker. Check Facebook marketplace. You might get lucky
