Have you tried looking on http://www.car-part.com/ to see if anything is decent? You can sort by distance to try and find something close to you.

Have you talked to a good body shop? I'm betting for a lot less than $7k they can replace both sides and fix any rust issues.

The last time I changed a side bed panel you got the whole side. The seam is that thin hump right next to the bolt is where the side panel stops. It looks like that rust next to the bolt isn't on the side panel but could easily be repaired. The problem with finding a used bed is either you are going to have to go for a long drive or you are going to be looking at junkyards with trucks that went through the same winter conditions as yours. Would you want to spend $1000 on a bed that might look the same as yours in a couple years?

Around me there's three types of body shops. The dealerships (enough said), the body shops that do a large volume and charge a premium, and the smaller guys who don't have the latest and greatest stuff but do good work for a reasonable price. If it was me I would try to find option #3 (sounds like the $400 might be one) and spend $600 or so on a set of fiberglass bedsides. Repair the rust as needed and make sure it's rustproofed well (maybe have a spray in liner done to both the top and underside) then put new fiberglass sides on. Seams like that would last the lifetime of the truck. It may not be the cheapest option but I would be looking more for doing it once and forgetting about it.

My box is in worse shape than that, and I have decided that unless my bed falls off in the middle of the road, I'll fix it when I get around to it as I have another project that is in need of my time and resources right now. So the truck will have to wait. This truck has been the most bothersome vehicle I have owned in the last 30 years, it seems there is always something going on with it! That being said, my interest in it is begining to slip.

Look on Copart.com and maybe buy a wrecked truck to swap the bed and then scrap the leftovers. Been looking for a be myself but nothing close to me yet.

Hope I'm not too late on this, but that rust is from a seal underneath that was missed during build. I had the same problem on my 07 and in the end the dealer replaced my whole bed even though my truck was outside the 7 year warranty. I this affects mostly 07 and 08 models. The dealership at first was trying to say it was my fault and I hauled salt, but I told him wouldn't the whole bed be rusty not just the spots behind the wheel wells...then he said we have an excecutive coming by in a week can you bring your truck back when he is here so he can look at it....after a week I get a call run over and they throw it on a lift and 30 minutes later they come back and tell me they are fixing it at no cost to me. The dealership wasn't real happy about it but excecutive said it was a missing seal during build and they would cover it....I saw the invoice after wards and 7k is spot on plus 1k in labor to paint.

The dealership is Pappas Toyota in saint peters Missouri. I know of 3 others besides mine that got the bed replacement and all were 07 to 08 and Toyota covered it.

The inside of the bed on my '07 was pretty rough, but the underside was fine. I cleaned it up, and sprayed it with Line-X - that was 2 years ago.

Yeah it looks like yours was a different problem. Mine had rust spot start behind both wheel wells and I thought it was just some surface rust so I cleaned it up and put some touch up paint on it. But it kept bubbling through because it was rusting from underneath. I took it in the the dealership to ask what I could do or what they thought was going on and that's what led to them replacing the whole bed.

Any idea what TSB or recall number that is? My 08 is horrible, one corner just popped and I can see the bed jiggling as I drive down the road. Would love to have the dealer fix it.

I think the TSB is considered "obsolete" and we're SOL on it.

Wow, this is EXACTLY what I need, in the right color, too.

So I have been to two shops regarding bed rust and some corrosion along the bottom of my tailgate.

First shop quoted $600 to fix tailgate, and "around" $1,500 for bed rust (definitely one grapefruit sized hole all the way through, potentially more, but drop in liner has not been removed. Bed has only been looked at from underneath.

Second shop basically said they can fix the tailgate, but the rust would probably just come back in a year or so, since the corrosion is from the inside. And as far as the bed goes, they seemed to think that even with cutting out the rust and welding in new metal, the rust would still come back. Their suggestion was to find a bed from the south, hopefully with a good tailgate, and go that route.

I have looked at some of the linked websites, and the shop said they could look into sourcing it for me.

    Any thoughts on this?

And member S2S, any chance you still have this?

Just bought 2011 Extended cab. Only 63k miles on it. Thought I got a good deal for it until I looked under the bed liner.

Facebook marketplace has a couple in my area.
There is a post for a black 07-13 crew cab bed in Mt. Holly, NC for $850.
Taylor Mayberry is the person who has it listed.
It has a dent on the driver's side towards the front.
