I'd like to change out the dealers silver shiny back license plate frame. Do want to avoid scratches to the paint job. Looking for options.

I think black would make the most sense for the Lunar Rock TRD, in either silicone or plastic. Most reviews online say that the silicone picks up dirt and won't ever look right again - with stickiness blamed. Lots of reviews about size, fit, and lack of durability issues on online offerings of silicone or plastic ones. Would be OK with plain, looked at the blacked out stars and stripes ones.

    Anyone with any recommendations?

I got a nice set of black metal frames with TRD symbol on Amazon for like 20 or 30 bucks. They have held up great. Got them to replace some black plastic TRD ones- the plastic ones age and fade pretty quickly.

I picked up a thin black metal one at OReilly’s. It’s held up well for 2.5 years so far.

I'm concerned with the vibration and paint wear from metal ones against modern paints.

Check the build link in my signature.
What paint would be rubbing on it? That spot is just plastic in the rear bumper.

So, I was confusing mine with the wife's Sequoia, which does have paint all around, but also rubber posts to hold it off, so I guess I could get metal and just use washers to make sure hers doesn't touch? (also lunar rock)

I used a metal license plate, but bought a rubber gasket [for lack of a better term] that fits around the edges and covers about a 1/4 inch of the lip. I thought it really dressed it up: got it off Amazon. That was for my last truck, which reminds me, I ought to get a couple for my new one!

A couple of rubber flat washers will suffice. Go to your local ACE. Might cost 40 cents.
