    2023 Crewmax ideas
Screenshot_20230827_122117_Gallery.jpg Hi, im looking for ideas and maybe specific details for wheels and tires for my 23' SR5 4x4 Crewmax.

I am thinking about 18" x 9" rims with lo pro tires so that i can still fit it i to my garage.

I've onky seen one and it was in Clovis but im hoping for some ideas on which brands and so forth. I will rarely if ever use it for serious off roading.
Im uploading a picture of what im looking for.

That picture is of a 22” or 24” rim. Gonna be a tiny tire if you want that a sidewall that short.

    Lots of stuff!
You could stay with the OE wheels and just go with a shorter tire. Or possibly a shorter spring or coil overs to lower the truck. A larger rim and a low profile tire will look cool as well! I was at the tire shop last week looking at the DUB wheels and some nice chrome American Racing wheels. You can get some that look old school like the Cragars!

I've never understood the desire to have that little sidewall.

Of course, I come from a long heritage of 4 wheeling, where more sidewall is better.

Your best bet is to go trade the Tundra in on the small car that more closely meets your needs.

Ultimately this is the correct answer.

I’m kind of curious just how short the OP’s garage opening actually is?

I think you will find this is not a big chrome with small tires crowd. The popular trend here is ditching 18s and 20s for 17s. Help here will be limited. 50/50 chance this thread goes to banter and memes.

Well, that truck picture is just an example.
I need tires and rims that will not raise my truck beyond my garage height.
I found some on Extreme terrain's webpage and im on here hoping for some good ideas.

I love funny comments, I have a sense of humor and I appreciate everyone's input.
There are 18"'s on my truck now and I'm hoping that i can stick with that size rim.

I wouldnt say you are in the entirely wrong forum.

Just not the best place for this specific question.

You'll find lots of other helpful info on this forum about the truck in general and way too many things to spend money for upgrades on as you browse the various builds.

Before you spend money you don’t need to, go get a tape measure and measure the garage door opening. The standard height of pretty much any residential garage door is going to be 7 feet or 8 feet.

Your truck, stock is not in excess of 7 feet tall. Unless you have the weirdest garage door ever, that is wildly out of code, your truck will fit at least height wise.

They look even better when they are donc’d.

standard doesn’t mean it is so… And is that rough opening? Or trimmed? Before pouring a pad? Just playing devils advocate..

So he has a custom garage door made to be a smaller than standard opening? Very very doubtful. Only a retarded person would specifically order or have a shorter than standard door built.

Even if the door itself doesn’t completely clear the opening on a 7’ tall door cutout, it would need to be very badly out of adjustment to hit a stock Gen 3 Tundra that is 78” tall, seeing as we’re talking about an 84” tall opening on a 7ft door. A standard code compliant interior or exterior door in California (the OP’s state of residence) is a minimum of 80” tall. So he’s claiming to have a garage door that shorter than code for a regular door in his house?

The OP wants an excuse to make a low rider Tundra. That’s fine, he’s free to make his truck less useful, and make it cosmetically suitable for his tastes.

You sound particularly hangry tonight :/

I thought this thread was about low pro tires, not whether or not ever garage door in the state of California built in the last 200 years is 2011 code compliant…?

Well 200 years ago it would be a carriage house, not a garage. Not sure what would have been common for the Spanish/Mexican landowners wealthy enough to have a carriage house on their estate. Most old carriage houses I’ve seen have quite tall doors and openings though.

I’m trying to remember ever seeing a garage door, or standard entry or interior door that was shorter than 6’6” in a home or business in North America. I’m sure they might exist somewhere, but damned if I’ve ever seen one.

The original post mentions wanting to do this so the truck will fit in the garage. At least that’s what I understand the goal to be.

Obviously if it already fits, making it 5” shorter with rubber band tires instead of the stock height will give him even more room.

I think it will really add to your ability to get work done around your farm. The cows respect your ride when the wheels are as bling bling as your pimp hand.

    Try for something like this:

    Absolutely.

All the ranchers I know have cows or steers that they eventually take satisfaction in taking to the slaughter house. Because some cattle are assholes.

If you think cows are destructive, get a few horses. Better yet, you can have mine.

My first Tundra was a 2008 in that beautiful blue color they offered in those days. It was brand new when I drove it to a neighbors ranch to remove a tree stand after hunting season was over. The rancher had warned me that his horses like to chew on his old blue feed truck. When I arrived, his horses were nowhere in sight, so I made the short hike to remove my tree stand. 15 minutes later I returned and found all 6 of his horses surrounding my truck. They had chewed paint off down to the metal on every quarter panel, hood, and roof. I had to have the entire truck repainted. Those horses were lucky I didn't have a weapon on me that day.

Hey what's it like to have a horse? I kinda want one, but my property is unfenced about 2 acres. Is this a bad idea? Never owned a horse.

2"CB shackles, bushings and 1 shim, lockerdown console vault, rear folding seat back mod, snugtop shell with opening side windows, 46g fuel tank, SDHQ sliders and hidden winch, Decked Drawers, Alcan leaf springs and got rid of the interior chrome
You will need to fence the area or the horse won’t stay around. You will also need to have a covered area for the horse to be protected. Then you will need to build a structure for hay and feed storage. Then you’ll need to buy saddle, bridle and miscellaneous tack, which also means a protected storage space. All these spaces can be combined under one roof. This is frequently called a barn.
Next, you will need to become acquainted with someone who can shoe your horse. This is called a farrier. He is not cheap. Also expect to get to know your local veterinarians. Horses need medication and occasional treatment for stuff. Last, you must ride your horse regularly or it will become I’ll mannered and forget how to behave.
    Good luck

If you're really set on throwing away large amounts of money, it might be easier to just buy a boat.

Anyway, back to making (good natured) fun of the OP wanting to put low pro tires on his 4X4 truck.

Thank you, gang. Perhaps it isn't a very good idea. I'll continue to enjoy my horses in red dead redemption 2.

My wife worked at an Equine hospital for a couple of years, looking at the billing for some of the animals procedures was freakin' staggering!

That being said... horses are pretty cool! But I'm a city boy, so just the occasional trail ride makes me feel like a Cowboy. :tumbleweed::dancingbacon:

Very bad idea, trust me. Unless you are a rancher who actually uses his horses for work on a daily basis, they will turn into nothing but big destructive money pits. I've had 3 for 15 years, and I've regretted it for about 14 years. If it wasn't for my wife's objections, I'd open my gate and let them find a new home.
