Not hard at all. Just don't be an idiot, always use OEM lower ball joints. Lest you may end up in the long list of other fools who ignored this advice: https://www.tundras.com/threads/first-gen-lower-ball-joint-lbj-failures.141860/

Hardest part of the job is separating the tie rod from the LBJ, and separating the LBJ from the LCA. I used a pickle fork and a pitman arm puller and had zero issues.

Make sure you use fresh hardware.

And the "always use OEM lower ball joints" is NOT a suggestion. This is probably the biggest fuck-up Toyota made in their front end designs, putting the LBJ under stress. Aftermarket manufacturers don't give a shit about you, and assemble theirs like any other joint, using plastic internals, nylon retainers, etc. It's not a joke. There's always 1 in 100 people who genuinely got lucky, and had no issues with aftermarket but they're few and far in between. It's better not to risk it, your life, and your truck, neither are worth that risk.

I got my ball joints from here. Is this a trusted source of genuine Toyota ball joints? It claims to be and as far as i can tell the ball joints themselves seem authentic. Just wondering if anyone has had any issues from this site?

Yes, that's one of a couple of dealerships who are very well known to this forum. Formerly known as McGeorge Toyota.
