    Hey guys,

I've noticed in the new 22' Tundra it has LTA for the lane departure assistance but it has steering correction. I don't mind the chime when you get close to the line but the steering correction I cannot stand. It feels like its going to swerve me into the car next to me and is constantly fighting my input on the steering wheel. Every time I push the button it just cycles the lane centering on and off but the steering assist stays on. Is there a way to turn that feature completely off?

Same thing for the radar cruise. Hold the button when turning cruise control on and it will disable the radar cruise and work like normal old fashioned CC. Helps when the sensor gets caked in snow, mud, ice, etc.

Toyota seems to have multiple functions for lots of things based on if you click the button, or if you hold the button. Look at the traction control stuff from the 2.5 gen. Multiple holds of the button for different settings.

I can’t stand the lane centering either. Idk how anyone can stand leaving that on. It’s only cool for showing people, hey look what I can do.

You only say that because you actually drive. I agree. Not a fan of it. The system isn't meant for those of us that drive when behind the wheel, though. It's to try and save us from the shitwits that are putting on makeup or texting instead of driving. Said shitwits also wouldn't be able to figure out how to shut it off.

I'm sure I looked like I was texting and driving when the lane centering kept shooting me across my lane as I'm trying to counter it. Lol. I got it all shut off and it drives great now. Thanks guys.

Yeah, had it on a rental/loaner Highlander and it's obnoxiously intrusive.

I can tell you that I love it in my wife’s Lexus NX300 and in her previous Acura. The Lexus is better, but then again it’s 3 years newer so the tech got better. I have no issues what so ever on her NX. It centers the vehicle with slight adjustments and I never get the feeling that it is over correcting. When the CC is on, it basically drives it self with very little input from me. It can’t however make a tighter than normal turn on the hwy. I also have no resistance on the wheel. I can hold it with one finger and it will not over power me. It’s weird you guys feel this way about it. I would have figured since this has been out for sometime now Toyota would have gotten right on this “flagship truck”.

Lane Center can be off permanently.
But Sway Warming back on when you start the engine again. Can Sway Warning be off permanently?

There are two different technologies in the new Tundras.

One is LTA(Lane Trace Assist) which keeps you centered in the lane. It prevents you from hugging one side of the road or the other.

The Second is LDA(Lane Departure Alert.) The 2020 and up Tundras had just the warning but the 3rd Gen includes the steering assist which will kick in once you drift out of your lane.

I turned off LTA and kept the LDA on in case I drift pretty bad. You can turn of LTA in the user settings using the controls on your steering wheel or you can turn them both off but hitting the button designated for LDA(the vehicle exiting its lane icon) on the steering wheel.

Im still trying to figure this out on my platinum. I want to keep the LDA and “permanently” disable to LTA. I CANNOT FIGURE THIS OUT!

is the alert that beep that goes off when you drift ? I noticed on my test drive that it beeped and then corrected with steering ( I was doing this on purpose a bit to try it)

I was thinking I like the help steering if it was windy or whatever, but damn I don't need that thing beeping at me all the time.

    is that what your saying?

Not exactly. I changed the lane departure to a steering wheel vibrate only (much less annoying imho) but I can’t figure out how to keep that, but turn off lane tracing permanently.

I don't care if the chime goes off or the wheel shakes (although I would prefer it did not),

I just don't want it to steer for me!

I mean come on Toyota. Have you ever heard of dodging potholes? Road kill? Or just taking a better line through a curve?

All these nannies make me wonder if involved in an accident while these are turned off if a lawyer will have a field day saying the driver disabled a safety feature that may have prevented the accident.
