I have a 2018 SR5 with steel wheels and purchased the aluminum TRD Pro wheels from someone off a 2017. I went to Discount tire to have them installed and they just called and said they need different lug nuts. I looked on here and the size lug nuts is M14x1.5. What is different about the ones I currently have on my 2018 and what they say they need? I called the dealership and they say they have them for $20 a piece. Autozone says they have them for $2 a piece. I am super confused. If M14x1.5 is what I need then why don't my current ones work and why is there different prices at autozone and the dealer? How do I know if what auto zone is offering is correct or not? Do I give them the info off the vehicle I purchased the wheel from or the info from my current vehicle to find out what lug nut I need? PLEASE HELP

My understanding is the steel wheels use the acorn style lugs because the wheel is not hub centric so tapered ends of the lugs center the wheel. The aluminum TRD wheel is hub centric and uses the flange style (Flat) lugs. Torque specs for steel wheels is different from the ones on the aluminum wheel. I made sure to get the lugs with the OEM TRD wheels that I bought off CL.

I definitely saw that there is a difference for torque value. So are you saying the 14<x1.5 is the size but the difference is the shape of the lugnut itself? I have contacted the guy a purchased the wheels from and he is going to see if he has them when he gets home from work today. Thanks

Yes, the seat of the lugs are different. The lugs for steel wheels are tapered(conical) and the lugs for the aluminum wheels are flat. I don't know if you can use the conical seat lugs on the aluminum wheels. I've seen some people say they've used them but don't know if that would damage the wheel.

IMG_20131119_215641_zps71756522.jpg The lug on the right is what you need for the TRD wheels. Don't use the acorn lugs on the aluminum wheels. The lug well in the aluminum wheels are totally different and you wont get the lugs to seat properly. The torque spec for the aluminum wheels is 97 FT/LBS.

I'm sure a dealer has them but you'll pay a premium. I've seen them on Ebay in stainless and in black for around $40.00 for a set.

If you are a Costco member you can get a 20% off coupon for parts & service at a participating Toyota dealer.

Edit: Just double-checked Costco and the coupon is for 15%.

Gorilla has OEM lugs. 73148TXX is the part number, add BC to that for the black chrome ones. I think they're sold individually.

^^^^^^That is the way to go. I have Gorilla lugs in black. They are very high quality, better than OEM. And they are cheaper than OEM, but not the cheap stuff you find at the autozones. You can buy them in different quantities. For some reason, I remember that I had to buy mine in packages of 4, so 5 packages.

On costco.com select "Services" --> "Costco Auto Program" and the click "Learn More" (this will take you to the auto program website). There is a menu for "Parts & Service" (sorry - looks like the discount is 15%, not 20). Fill out the form and you can get a coupon for the dealer in your area that participates. If you want to go to a dealer in a different city you can try entering the zip code for that dealer. (i used this at our local GMC dealer to get 15% off the service of my wife's suv).
