Cool video. He bought a Salvaged 2018 for $25k. Mods and work totaling ~$50k. All in for $75k.
With the TVS 2650, he’s making 490 WHP on 37s.
Wide body desert runner that tows a lot, too.
He says gears are not needed with the amount of power it puts out now.
Fellow TRD hood scoop hater.:anonymous:

He spent $75k on a salvaged title tundra and definitely failed to make it a "raptor". It's not even long travel...No way this thing will seriously compete with a 3rd gen raptor in the dirt.

Regardless, I'll bet it's fun to drive with that big SC on it!

Yes we have yet to see how often it ends up on the side of the road with the hood up waiting to get towed.

I would take that over a Raptor any day of the week. With the amount of time it spends towing his show cars and drift car, I'm not sure I'd want to go full LT. The way he talks about it in the video, he's also not done with the build.

Need is a strong word. But if I decided to fork over the cash, I'm not sure if I'd do SC or gears...

It's wild that's $50k in parts considering it's really just a mid travel suspension and a blower and some other doo dads. Always amazing (and sad) how much stuff adds up.

Don't leave out the TVS 1900 crowd that can get a discounted TVS 2650 upgrade kit.

Yeah. To be honest I was a bit surprised that it wasn’t full LT. I bet he ends up there. Seems weird to put wide glass fenders on your tow pig.

Also, someone tell this guy about RAS. I hated the way airbags rode on the back of my Tundra when unloaded.

What discounted upgrade kit? Magnuson’s site doesn’t list it only the full kits.

Email them if you are interested.

According to the Larry Chen video in the OP, Magnuson is selling an upgrade kit for current 1900 owner that want to upgrade to the 2650.

I’m curious, but I doubt it’s really worth it. A few thousand bucks for 10hp and 13lb-ft. Sure, the 2650 is more efficient, but I just don’t see much performance benefit for the money.

He talks about the upgrade kit here saying it will be cheaper to upgrade than buying the 2650 with no blower installed around 4:50 timestamp: https://youtu.be/sfv2_M2mGQU?t=283

Right before this time stamp he talks about the general limitations he experienced with the smaller 1900 blower.

There are a few members that share your skeptisim and have made threads about it.

1900 is suitable for how most people are using their trucks. The stock engine isn't built for much more abuse.

Edit: Also the difference may not translate to differences in performance only.

Exactly this. A lot more to having a better blower than Hp. That’s like saying long travel is only good for going fast. Which it’s not.

I'm getting one. Exact timing is tricky, but I'm working on it and almost there. Toytec is close, so they'll do the install. I can't wait.

I have a TRD s/c 2012 Taco and it is really fun, but the Tundra will be the super fast fat kid.

These companies will typically announce long before they are ready to ship. Site shows the whole kit is ready to purchase but folks that called them said they aren't shipping yet.
