HI all! Has anyone found a way to make sequential taillights to work on a 2022 limited? I know the capstone does this like the ford mustang does but i need to know if it is programmed into the software or would I have to purchase those tail lights and will they plug in without modifications or does anyone make a kit to make this possible? Thanks for all ideas! smileytn1

Oem tonneau, side steps, spray in liner. Trd skidplate.
You have to buy the lights, they aren't cheap. They plug in same as the standard taillight.

I did the swap on my SR5. Works perfectly fine and was able to sell my OEM lights for 500 so was all in for maybe 300 for the upgrade. Completely plug and play.
If you consider doing this, would also look into getting the tailgate elbow harness (eBay) to add that functionality as well.

If you have a link for the harness, please share! I'm not too concerned with sequential taillights, but I would really love to have the elbow button!

I ordered from sparksparts. Would see if you have a local dealer who does online pricing though as shipping can be expensive for larger items. The part numbers are in the ultimate parts thread so you can search there if needed.

the guy who makes them releases them on eBay. Search his username on YouTube and he posts a video of how to do the swap and what part numbers are needed for the taillight button and trim piece. You dont need to do the sequential tails to do the mod. I just figured why not as it was not a lot of investment for me since I sold the OEM tails for 500 for the pair

If I could sell my stock lights, it would definitely make the swap more appealing! You may have lucked out getting that much for them though.

    Thanks for the link!

If you wanted to add the tailgate release switch to the passenger side instead I figure all you would need is a longer adapter harness? What if you wanted a switch on both sides I guess the adapter harness would need two female ends and one male end?

would assume would be a simple extension and/or splitter but can’t speak to on weather or not the trim piece is ambidextrous or amenable to being cut out for the button and mounting appropriately

In order for the elbow switch to work, does the truck have to be unlocked?

Ok. So it has a pickup sensor like the tailgate handle. It'll allow the regulate to open but not unlock the truck. Thanks.

i talked to the guy who makes the harnesses and he said its doable but the switch doesnt fully bolt up to the passenger side trim. Stays in place fine, just doesnt use all mounting tabs

Thanks for looking into that. It would be nice to have the release on both sides of my Limited TRD OR. So besides securing the switch fully I think the harness he sells would also work just by extending the wires that go to the male plug on the drivers side and also protecting these wires with a wire loom. I am also concerned as to how water tight this harness is on the backside of the connectors. I would probably need to de-pin it and put on some heat shrink on the backside of those connectors. That is a nasty environment back there.

So parts needed would be the switch, 84945-0C010 (about $65 US) the switch bezel which they call a Tail Light Assembly Insulator??? you need to buy the sequential turn signal type 81568-0C1060 (about $10 US) and the $60 harness which I think is a bit pricy for what it there but the Engineering is done for you.

Does anyone have direct contact info for the harness seller? I like to avoid eBay wherever possible.

I did a search under vanga115 and it shows that he has no stock left right now. Plus a got a number hits showing what appears to be the exact same harness but made in China and are generally $16 less including shipping.

Don’t forget the two little orange clips if you’re as OCD as I am…they don’t come with the trim piece.
