I tried to install LED map lights tonight in my 19' Tundra. After removing the factory map-light bulbs, I tried to install the new LED bulbs but they wouldn't fit like the OEM bulbs. I tried several times to get the bulbs to install but they didn't seem to fit. I tried to reinstall the original bulbs and they would no longer fit either. I removed the reflective cover and looked at the inserts for the bulbs and they looked like they were out of place. I tried to move them a little but they still wouldn't accept either bulb. In the process, I blew a fuse and now my auto headlights don't work nor do the daytime running lights. They only work if I turn them on manually on the lever. I checked all of the fuses but none of them appear to be blown. I obviously screwed up the the map-light insert for the bulbs so now I need some advice on how to fix this issue. Also, if anyone has any idea what fuse I could have blown, that would be helpful too. Again, I checked all the fuses but didn't see any blown. The positive thing that came out of this is the dome light LED's work awesome... At least they did until I blew the fuse. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I had some issues similar when installing LEDs in the interior. It seemed the LEDs were shaped a bit differently at the base or where they plugged in, maybe a bit bigger and less taper. Probably didn't have the new bulb straight when plugging in. I had to "recalibrate" the prongs a bit with a small screwdriver and/or needle nose pliers so that they would accept either bulb again.
Have you checked both fuse boxes? Seems mine was in the engine bay fuse box in my 07.

    Good luck

Thanks for the info. I did locate the blown fuse in the interior fuse box and after replacing it, was able to get the dome light and DRL's working again. I have no idea why the dome light fuse impacted the DRL's but after replacing the fuse they came back on. Tomorrow, I take on the task of removing the console and trying to fix the prongs. After reading all of the comments on here, I'm a little concerned about installing the map-light LED's. Have you had any issues with your LED's?

Surprisingly no issues with the cheap set of LEDs i got off of Ebay. They are so much better than the incandescent glass bulbs.
If I remember right the base of the LEDs were a circuit board like material under the conductors that had square edges, no taper like the glass bulbs. After similar issues I was able to sand or file down the square edges just a little to create a small taper for easier install.

Still one of my favorite mods.

I even went with LEDs for brake/tail lights, reverse & signals. Much more visible. Get red LEDs for brake/tail; white looks orange thru red lens.

do yours "remember" the last setting they were on? do you have any issues with requiring a second push of the map light to activate the light?
these were common issues experienced on the Tacoma forum and I have been eyeing these but want to see if they have ironed out the issues yet.

Check the build link in my signature.
Mine stay on whatever setting they are set at (mine are currently kept on red). And I've not had any 'double push" issues at all.

No problems so far. I have had them in for about three weeks and have used them in the morning quite frequently. They light up on first push and they stay on the last color selected. Ie turned off with red and turned on with red. You can only swap colors when they are on. When installing I had to make sure they were seated correctly. One of them did not work initially but I took it out and installed again making sure it was seated correctly. No issues after that.

Also the instillation video shows them removing the whole map light assembly. You can install without taking out the T20 screws. Just be gentile when removing the reflector so you do not blow a fuse.

    Quite pleased.

I've been eyeballing these for a while.
I don't need them, but they seem pretty cool.
I already have LED bulbs, they are a little brighter than stock halogens.

    A couple of questions:
    1. Were they worth the price paid?
    2. Did y'all do the dome light too?

    Thanks..

Yes $60 is a bit steep BUT since I have a brand new 21 I figured I will get my money out of them and Yes I also got the $65 matching dome light as well. Oh and these are WAY brighter than the stock.

A little late to your situation (glad it’s resolved), but there are multiple tutorials on interior LED installs. Almost all of them recommend 1 or 2 fuse removal prior to changing. I’m about to re-embark on this endeavor as I just traded my 14 for a 19. I fried my drivers side map light in the 14 and could never get it resolved. Going with VLEDs this time. Hoping I’m a little luckier with it.

I have both, wouldn’t dream of doing it any other way. This is my third truck with the Meso lighting package.

I'm on day 144 waiting on cat parts to come in.
I've had the dealer's Tacoma loaner/rental so long I had to take it in for maintenance today.
They said they have no idea when the cats will come in.

Shoot my dealer Doesn't even do loaners they put a rental place in. Used up my insurance amount and have no truck for the foreseeable future. This is day 37 for me. They did quote me at 2-3 months when it went in. If not, then I'm sure I'll have the Valhalla shields by the time the trucks back at least!

My dealer is going to cover whatever the insurance doesn't pay for the rental.
The insurance limit is $1500 per claim, which was 33 days.
So my rental fee, after the 33 days, is up to $4995 so far that Toyota is going to pay for.
When they ran out of loaners, they started putting people in Enterprise rentals.

They now have 35 Tundras and Sequoias on the lot waiting for cats to come in with no arrival date in sight.

I will have to call the service advisor and see what he can do then. It seems a lot of people are getting the rental covered through Toyota.

Had emailed MESO about the stuff I mentioned above. Austin got back to me just now and said the issue is unique only to the Tacoma so our tundras are safe! Order placed!
