I nearly ran into his XJ two weeks ago :D came up the face of a razorback at the top of the main sand hill and be was cresting it at the EXACT same time, literally missed each by a foot. Couldn't of been closer if you tried, and neither of us saw each other up until we were parked on top of the same dune side by side facing opposite directions lol. Sadly I haven't seen it posted in any of his videos.

Was it busy out there? I want to go to Utah when I get to the chance to test out my ride and see how much she and or no can handle

He has a great channel. I shake my head all the time at most of the stuck vehicles.

That was during the trail hero event (I guess more than 2 weeks ago, time flies, that was beginning of October) and it was relatively busy compared to usual. But even then, not that busy all things considered. The lake at sand hollow is almost always busy to one degree or another, but the sand dunes and red rocks are empty as can be. Most days we see a handful of people at most, and they're usually guided tours on ATV/UTVs. I've taken the Tundra all around there and in the dunes multiple times, if you know how to drive in the sand it's a good time! Lots of cool views and trails that even a stock truck could enjoy. Most of the time I've seen Matt's XJ is at the lake on the beach (I've recognized quite a few vehicles that he's had videos recovering which is funny), when we almost hit each other was the first time I've seen him personally out in the wheeling area. I usually watch his videos to try and find new places to go wheeling down here :D

If you've never been to Utah there's lots of dirt roads and awesome sights and places to go. I think one of the most fun and most scenic routes would be Sand Hollow/Zion, then either Kanab or Cedar Breaks, Bryce Canyon, Escalate/Boulder, Capitol Reef, Bullfrog/Wahweap, Henry Mountains, Canyonlands, Moab, La Sal. Those are all staying in southern Utah and crossing the state, and most of those can be pieced together without backtracking at all and are each wickedly cool in their own right. My girlfriend and I did a similar trip of mostly dirt roads from Moab to St George awhile ago and was one of the convincing factors to move here :D

Andrew Camarata's video production has dropped off these past few months, so Matt's been taking up the slack.

Both guys lead lives I'd love to live.

I like watching his videos but my OCD kicks in every time he opens the back hatch on the Jeep.
You would think he'd have all his recovery stuff organized and ready to go, but it seems like he just throws it all back there in a big pile.
Whatever, he knows what he's doing and has done some amazing things with a Jeep a rope and a winch.

I love it, I've caught up on ever video I think. The one with the 1500 on the side of the mountain, guy tried to go down a horse trail. Had Fab Rat with him in his straight axe Taco.

I can't help to notice I've only seen 2 Tundras stuck, and one of them had to help Matt get unstuck also. :mudding:

In one of the Fab Rat videos, they welded rock slider on the rocker panel, I don't get the benefit of that, I didn't see where it attached to the frame at all.

A great thing about it is there's no cussin' or beepin. Family friendly.

I love watching his content. I pretty much watch one or two every day. Some of the recoveries are great and some of them are just good. Depends on how dumb people are trying to traverse trails in a Tesla or pretty much as 2WD pickup. Gotta love Ed.

I saw a Tundra stuck once and I looked at my wife and said I would be embarrassed to make a call for that.

Not sure how I missed this thread - I’ve been watching since the beginning. Love the channel - It’s too bad his crew keeps leaving - seems like a good guy but I’m sure it’s very difficult to manage people and friends with sudden onset of money and fame.

That looks like Trevor, are he and Rudy hanging together or is this an old picture? I haven't been watching Rudy's channel.

Matt mentioned on one of the videos that Trevor moved on to greener pastures, he hasn't been on any in the last several months.

Yeah I don't think many of those folks leave on bad terms, shoot they gave Jaffe 4runner not long ago, and they crushed his old car but still.

Can't wait to see the LORW fired up. Amazing the way they build a vehicle up from the frame with just flat steel.

One of the hilarious rescues a year or so ago was a 2wd gen2 Tundra fully loaded stuck in the mud on a hill with stock highway tread. I was just laughing how bad a choice that was. But yeah this show is an amazing piece of entertainment.

I read that it was with AAA, telling customers to join up and he post dated the invoice helping them with the charges. Technically yeah but he was trying to look out for folks so I'd give it a pass.

The wife and I have seen every one of his episodes from day one. A lot of others involved in their own channels. Great entertainment for us. I have been to Matt’s shop in Hurricane and met the folks in person.
