Has anyone out there gotten behind the dash and disconnected the media USB port to reroute it? If so, how bad was it? I can't stand the thought of having a wire coming out of the dash.

prob since they expect people to use wireless carplay or AA instead of wired. i told the wife just use a fast charger from the center console and run the wire just thru a slot in the center console lid.

true but for 90% of our use (spotify), its good enough. that is about the only thing i would use it for. if i go on long trips out of state, i use my 7in garmin so i can use it while driving. and its way better than google maps/auto

most fo the features are dead after a year anyway with the drive connect service, no way in hell im paying $16 month for that. i can barely tolerate the remote connect @ $8 month only because the ROI vs aftermarket remote start install/service only breaks even after 5yrs.

Speaking of which - do we have a part number for this item yet?

I doubt it uses a standard USB plug in the back, and my idea was to disconnect it, leave a "dummy" in dash, and run a 2nd one hidden somewhere out of sight.

Found it for $72, but damn, that's pretty expensive for a "blank" only to fill the space.

Anyone here capable of making a 3d printed blank cover for that USB port?

Know this post is somewhat dated, but this video gives a great tutorial about getting to the USB port and rerouting the wire:

I'm about to do this myself, but I wanted to replace the cover with a blank one that I am going to modify to accommodate a JL Audio amplifier volume control knob. @99ways2die where did you find the blank only cover?
