I received my second key fob last week. I am now trying to set my original fob to the #1 seat setting. I get in my truck, start it, then press and hold the lock button and the #1, but nothing happens. I am following the user manual. Am I doing something wrong?

Rather than starting the truck just put it into "accessory" mode and try the procedure.

Maybe.... but it is nice to have it automagically happen for you.

I’m 6’5 and my wife is 5’4. If she drives before me, I can’t get in my truck right away. I have to open the door and wait for the seat to lower and move all the way back. If it is programmed to the key fobs, it saves time to get in.

Following... I have the same issue, dealer visits have been pretty useless, one told me I had to have 2 keys, other told me that's not a feature on my platinum trim.

    I have the same issue.

I brought my fob and phone out to my truck, set up a new profile for me, adjusted the mirrors, the driving position and exit seats. Tested it out, worked perfect.

I brought the second fob out with my wife's phone, set up a new profile for her, adjusted the mirrors, driving position and exit seats. Tested it out, worked perfect.

Then I bring my fob and phone back to my truck, and it's all preset to my wife's parameters. So I adjust everything back to where I want it.

A month goes by and my wife drives my truck with her fob and phone, and it doesn't remember any of her presets and everything is adjusted only to my parameters.

Annoying as heck. The phone and profiles seem to work fine, but the truck is operating as if we're only using one fob with the seats and mirrors.

My wife's 2017 Suburban works flawlessly when we use two different fobs.

if i remember correctly, you can only have main profile set to a single fob (tundra doesnt have the ability to define 2 profiles in the head unit, so you cant define 2 different fobs)

the memory settings are an outlier since they are independent of the main profile of the head unit

Has anyone got this working? Seems like an unnecessarily complex system. In my Hondas, key fob 1 activates memory 1, key fob 2 activates memory 2. That all happens without any programming and just works. 100% of the time.

I’ve tried without any luck to follow the manual instructions about holding down the memory button and lock button on the door (to match the memory to a key), but that doesn’t seem to do anything.

It also seems like the “profiles” in the head unit are somehow linked to some seat positions, but these seem independent of the seat memory. When I switch profiles it asks me if I want to move the seat, but it seems to go to some random position, and i can’t figure out how to set or change them.

very frustrating this is so complicated!

I have the same circumstance. If you go into settings there is a selection to have the seat go all the way back after you turn off the truck. That way it is clear for whoever gets it regardless of height. Then it moves into position based on the last setting when you start it up or if you push the memory button on the door. I have yet to mess around with the link to the key fobs but it doesn't surprise me that it is unnecessarily complicated and works worth beans, much like many of the systems in these trucks. Very disappointing.

My wife's Lexus was a nightmare doing this, so I said screw it on the Tundra, I'm 99% the only one that drives my truck so I just leave it at that.

One thing I did learn on the Lexus, which is probably the same for most Toyotas as well, read it on lexus forum & it worked.

Move seat all the way forward, then move it all the way back, then set your seat settings and link your key. THEN, for the vehicle to recognize key & move seat, the car must be locked, then whatever key is present when unlocking door, the seat will move to that position.
So, we keep our car in garage & don't lock it. But if I'm driving after my wife has, I just use the fob to lock doors before I approach the car. When I open the door, the seat moves to my position. If I don't lock it first, it's a crap shoot as to what it does.
It still gets confused at times when we both get in with our separate keys, plus I ALWAYS open her door for her first, it doesn't know what to do.

To this day, the memory buttons on the dash do nothing, they won't move the seat at all, but the car somehow knows the seat position. It's a terribly complicated system.

If I'm reading this correctly you're referring to the Lexus when you say the buttons on the dash don't work? Had the same problem with my Tundra when I first got it and discovered the dealer missed a couple of steps in the pre-delivery inspection. Based on other forum members suggestions, I had to move the seat all the way back then all the way forward. Then move it all the way up then all the way down. Then tilt the seat back all the way back and then all the way forward. Did this procedure and the buttons started working. Apparently this teaches the computer what the limits are..
