Looking for new HT tires and contemplating the Michelin defenders in 295/70/18.
I want the smoothest and quietest tire possible. My previous AT tires looked great but at 37k miles the noise is starting to annoy me.

I'm putting them on a stock 2020 Tundra TRD PRO. I don't foresee any rubbing issues since they're not as aggressive as an AT tire in same size, any confirmation from those that have them in that size?

Any feedback as far as mpg, noise, comfort from those that have tried them or other HT tires in that size would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

Defenders are a great street tire. Responsive, smooth, quiet. They should fit fine on your pro. I would choose the defenders over other similar styes/brands.

I'm going back to Defenders once these KO2s are shot. Which won't be long.

The Michelin Defender is always a solid choice. They are on another level and I would argue they rival the performance of many AT tires in the snow, ice, and especially rain.

I love the Defender ms2's. Kind of boring to look at, but they provide great performance, very low road noise and long tread life. Highly recommend them.

I have these tires in 295 size. The look good and I will be getting them again when the time comes.

You'll have a slight mileage drop not because of the tire design per se, but because 1. the LT tires are heavier and 2. your truck will be taller - so the air profile has slightly changed. As for #2, you driving a vehicle that has the profile of a brick, regardless.

So I went with Defenders in 275/70/18.
Very happy with performance & ride quality.
    Appreciate the feedback,

I'm having this exact debate with myself right now. Moving from 275/70/18 Cooper XLTs to the LTX M/S2 in either a 275 or 295.
Discount is offering to mount both up and let me decide, but if you already went down that road I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Is the 275/70/18 true to size or do they run smaller or bigger?
I'm thinking the 295 in a highway tire shouldn't look or feel much bigger than a 275 AT tire.
The weight on the Michelins are super light either size, so it really comes down to the diameter effect on gearing and looks.

Not what I was asking for at all...

I get it that the math is the math, and calculators will spit out conversions and comparisons, but that has nothing to do with the reality of the situation. All brands or types of 275/70/18 tires (or any other tire size) are NOT the same, not even close. BFGs generally run really small, Toyos generally run big. I wasn't asking for the nominal difference between the two sizes on a chart, I was asking if this particular tire runs true to size or if they run small or big relative to the numbers stamped on the sidewall. I was also asking the OP why he went with one over the other since he also decided between these two specific sizes in this specific tire on this specific truck. Pretty sure he didn't bust out a tire size calculator to make that decision, it was based on what he saw in the real world. Also, a beefy AT or MT will look and feel much different than an HT in the same size. I have two sets of Toyos for my FJZ80, same exact size stamped on the side, one is an MT and one is an HT, and the MTs are visually and measurably larger than the HTs. A tire calculator would lie to me about these tires since it would tell me they are the same size, they're clearly not.

Either way, if the OP doesn't respond I'm doing this same real world comparison in about an hour. I'll report back which way I went and why, with comparison pics... no charts will be involved.
