Just got my new truck. 200 miles. It came with Michelin ltx at2 and I’m coming from Bridgestone duelers which where a all season tire. The Michelin’s seem a lot louder at speeds over 5 mph. Is this normal ? Or do they need to break in longer ?

Yeah, an all terrain tire will produce more noise.

Same tire. Mine are dead quiet after setting fronts at 30psi cold and rears at 33osi cold per the sticker in the door jam.

I had those AT2 tires when I first bought the truck. They weren't too bad, but I thought them a little noisy. So when the time came, I figured I'd get a quieter tire. Based on reviews. I bought 4 Michelin Defender LTX M/S. They were supposed to be a quiet tire. Well, they've been getting worse as the miles accumulate, and at 30K miles they are absolutely the noisiest damned tire I've EVER had on any vehicle in my 55+ years of ownership. These tires growl at all speeds and ROAR between 45 and 65. You can feel the buzz in the steering wheel between 50 and 65. And these are the SL rated tire, not E1. Never again.

I feel my factory Michelin’s are super quiet. I don’t notice much noise at all.

I think it depends on what you’re comparing it to. If your last car was a bmw then yes they will be loud.

I had the Michelin Defenders for almost a year, until I switch to Falken Wildpeaks.

I didn't know the Michelins got loud as they aged.

Pickups have been my daily driver for the past 30 years. Hankooks have been the quietest tires I've had on a truck so far. I'll probably go back to those or Yokohamas next time.

My Michelin AT2’s that I run for construction season are quiet and smooth - compared to my Duratracs that I run for winter.

    Good point.
Here in Austin the toll road 130 is concrete and is loud as hell.
Hop on 35 and it’s like a brand new car.
So yeah, the makeup material of the road can make the car more noisy.
