I finally replaced The factory tires with the Michelin LTX that everybody seems to love. I bought the 116T as opposed to the 114T that is factory because I tow a trailer once a month. ( which coincidentally I may give back because it will end up being a buyback to the defects). So I put the 116 T on and I thought it was a lot rougher than the factory tires. Has anyone run the 114T versus the 116? I know it's not much difference in load capacity but thought it would be better with the trailer. I miss the soft ride of the factory tires but not the lousy traction. Your thoughts?

It really only is a difference of 150 lbs per tire in load index rating.

Surprised you can tell the difference.

That's what I thought too! Maybe it is just a stronger sidewall tire. Typically Michelin's have a pretty mushy sidewall. Worst part is they moved on the rims so I have to re-balance at work Monday night. I had to match mount one to get the road force variation down and when I was checking pressures this morning I noticed my mark on that tire was a 3/4 turn out. Crazy!

I can’t even tell the difference between my 121-124 load index rated tires.

They are just stiff no matter what though.

Which LTX tires were on it and which ones did you replace it with? Factory AT2 will ride rougher (louder, more road noise) then LTX M/S Defender, which rides rougher then LTX A/S (What most reccomend for smoothest quietest ride)

I bought 116T LTX M/S. It originally had Bridgestone Duellers on it. Should have done LTX A/S ☹️ Didn't realize there was a difference. That's ok, I will probably get used to them. They are rated very highly so I will stick it out. Unless someone in the SF Bay area wants them with 200 miles on them, will sell for $850

Bridgestone Dueller 684 II are A/S tires, you went up to a M/S tire so it would ride a little rougher. You do get the capability of mud/snow, although a dedicated snow tire will be better for winter driving and a A/T tire will be better for the mud.
Where did you buy the tires? A lot of tire dealers will switch out tires that you are not happy with. Discount tire and Costco do this for free other might charge a small nominal fee.

Personally, if you plan to hit snow aka Tahoe or Mammoth etc keep the M/S, its a truck ....you'll get used to the ride.
I have michelin A/T tires, don't like the road noise but it's a small price to pay to be able to take my truck offroad.

FYI 114t is plenty for a Tundra's tow capacity. Not gaining much with a 116T, step up to a true LT tire if capacity concerns you, those are load range E tires

I get so used to just doing OE tires I never considered that factor. Doh! I bought them from Tire Rack thru my work. I can just yank them and put on craigslist I guess. I paid 850 to my front door for them. I liked the nice ride quality of the stockers but not the poor traction. The truck is 2wd so it doesn't really see mud or snow. My wife wanted a camper trailer and I bought this truck (which I love!) to haul it. I was looking at discount tire as I have a buddy that works there but even getting a deal thru him is was still $150 more. I'll stick with them for a bit, more traction is a good thing. I am going to Re-balance and mark all the tires to make sure they are mot still moving on the rims.

So you got the defender ltx ms? Don't sell them. They're awesome and you'll soon love them. They are a little stiffer than the OE tires on the truck but they are much much better. And they are an AS tire, as far as Michelin goes you'd have to get, I think the defender premier ltx? Which are more expensive and from everythng ive read, not as good.

Should have bought them from Discount Tires eBay store. I just bought four LTX AT2 size 275/60-20 for 700.00 shipped to my door, had to buy two at a time to get 100.00 off each transaction over 400.00.

You guys running the LT or P-rated version of this tire? My Nittos are shot and looking to replace. I’ve got LTs on now and even at 36psi, they ride rough. I do pull a 4500lb camper 5-6 times per year.

I'm using the P rated, the LT's will ride rough as hell. I pull a 25 foot Jayco with Stabalizers it's about 4500 lbs dry plus a lot of additional stuff. It rides fine. The LTX is a tad rougher than stock but they have really good traction. I would not get lt's unless you really need it. Keep in mind too the truck is rated for towing 10,000 lbs with the stock tires...
