It's been going on for two years or so. It's just tiresome at this point. The shake goes away when I turn during curves. Wheels are supposedly balanced. The brakes are good. They never seemed to make any difference. Tires are in good shape. I'm at a loss. I'd like to think it's a little soon for bearings. However, I do live down a forest road that was hand in 1940. Again I am at a loss.

Have you jacked it up and tried to wobble the tires/wheels? Also if you back a boat in water and the axle vent hasn't been relocated, water may have leaked into the axle housing.

Husband spent a few years trying to chase down a vibration in his ‘03 that showed up randomly. Did bearings, joints, balanced tires, even checked the driveshaft for true. He had a local shop turn his rims and clear coat to pretty them up (unrelated project) and the vibration went away. One had an impossible-to-see small dent. Tires would balance but that’d rear its head once he got driving. :notsure: Truck gremlins.

That's my suspicion. I just don't want to chase my tail per se in a costly manner. I'm going to try some rough country steel rims. They're inexpensive, making me skeptical about how they'll hold up.

That being said. I don't see the point in buying another pretty aluminum set to get heavily sandblasted by the miles and miles of forest road and highway contract I drive every day. My 20-inch premium wheels are chrome only in an academic sense. There black now with specs of chrome. I hope that's it. Thank you for your input.

That's another very real possibility. Our farm site in-between two low water crossings.

It's regularly on tack with oil changes and brakes. Living in a twisty mountainous area eats brakes and rotors with the veracity of a t-rex. I check it while it's up everytime.

Cooper discoverer 10ply. But this has been an issue for a while with not just those tires.

Some of us have experienced slight intermittent fwy speed vibrations due to rocks stuck in the tire treads. The OE Michelins AT2s are notorious for holding onto smaller rocks (similar to the ones you'd find along a dirt road), and if they are not evenly distributed throughout the tread it will throw wheel balance off slightly and can cause some minor vibration.

Have you checked front suspension ball joints? Process of elimination, work your way thru from most likely/cheapest to least likely/most expensive. Upper control arm outer balljoint was causing some vibration and uneven tire wear for me, though the vibration was minimal.

Not to steal the thread but I have a vibration around 70 mph. I’ve had the tires balanced a couple of times. My tire shop said the tires didn’t seem that good, yet they were perfectly fine when I took them off my old truck. I do think my rotors are a little warped because I have a decent shake when braking on the highway. Could warped rotors be my constant vibration around 70 mph only?

Could it be? Yes it is possible that's it. The shake during braking would make me put on new rotors/brakes if current ones have many miles/usage. If it solves the 70mph vibration too that's even better.

I’ll probably get more than 87k miles out of mine. I’m at 65k miles and have lots of pad life left. Not rotor wobble either. Wife’s Jeep GC has 142k miles, still on the factory pads and rotors.

I'm ordering heavy duty rotors. Hopefully that does the trick. Ball joints looked fine and I had the wheels balanced at my last service. If that doesn't do it. Then it has to be the wheels.

It's possible. It could also be bearings. Don't assume because low miles it's not. You already got the brake parts so give that a shot. Also make sure the rotors seat right when installing. I've seen people have them not on correctly with wheels torqued down. Did you also check otr joints out?

I've had it gine through and checked 5he bearings. Not the otrs. I have to go through a low water crossing everyday. Coming home across it after a two and a half mile descent down a mountain. These rotors have pretty low miles on them but it's possible.

Again I'm going to try some steel wheels AKA still rims. I don't see the point in buying nice Mall crawler rims that are only going to get the shit beat out of them. To be honest I kind of like the industrial look of the plane still rims. Now if I can find a set that will fit that aren't that aren't the hard to find stock without some shitty set of tires attached to them. Thanks everyone for the input. I'll update this post if I figure it out.

So coachbuilder David and I had a discussion on the OE otrs and how he thought they were barely strong enough for a quality ride with oe rims/tires. Upgrading to larger tires/heavier tires could (does imo) cause steering issues. I agree on the rim idea. A cheap set, even used oe steels. I grabbed a free set from a neighbor before. See how they work out. Your symptoms really lead me to not think rims though. Please update on this issue, I'm interested on what exactly is causing it.

I just read some reviews on my tires that point to them as a possible culprit. SMH. Can anyone suggest a good long lasting 10ply that isn't plagued with issues?
