Mirror raising instead of lowering in reverse

Hi

I mostly don't use the auto-tilt-mirrors-when-reversing feature but I noticed something that's probably a defect and I should have fixed while it's still covered under warranty.

When the mirror switch is on left or right and when I shift to reverse: the left mirror tilts down but the right mirror tilts up.

Is it possible that I'm missing something and this behaviour is on purpose or is it clearly something the dealer has got to fix?

Do the mirrors adjust properly when you use the toggle? It almost sounds like they are reversed or upside down.

 

It works properly when I adjust it manually.

Does that sound like a computer problem?

 

What i noticed on my truck is that when I had my mirror select switch in Left or Right it would go down, but when I adjusted my right mirror while I was in reverse, the following time I went into reverse the right mirror would only move down as far as I had adjusted it last.

Not saying you had done the same thig I did, but just showed me that it will replicate what you did last time.

 

The mirrors have a memory in the reverse/tilt down mode. With the truck in reverse, adjust the mirror that is pointing up so that it is correctly pointing down. See if that works. Then exit tilt down mode and it should be saved. If this doesn't work, then the others have it right and something is wired backwards, as unlikely as that seems.

 

I haven't played with them much in my Tundra, but if they work like they do in my Lexus, and I suspect they do, then they may just need to be readjusted. Put the truck in reverse, then tilt your mirrors down where you want them while reversing. Then, the next time you go to reverse, they should remember that position.
