Missing the exterior black vinyl on 2024?

Did Toyota do away with the back vinyl in the a pillar and on the doors by windows? I just got mine brand new and it doesn’t have it?

 

I think it is trim dependent. Is your a night shade limited? My 24 sr5 off road has black in those locations.

 

No, it’s a limited with the trd off-road package.

 

Must be trim related. Same with the different options for grill surround. Here’s the a pillar and window on mine.

 

I built me a sr5 offroad the other day on toyotas site and noticed this. Not exact same thing but...

"Gloss-black-painted A-pillar except on Midnight Black Metallic and
Blueprint."

 

Interesting, another Toyota quirk.

hybrid limited trd off roads here are all colour matched or blacked out. Non hybrid in same trim are chrome chrome chrome.

I just bought this exact same Tundra in Blueprint as well and was wondering the same thing. However, I think this is specific to the Blueprint color. If you go on Toyota’s website and build this tundra, any time you select the Blueprint color, it will show the truck like this… without the black pillar between the windows. And if you change the color to anything else, it will have the black.
I’m curious as to why only Blueprint is like this

 

So the a and b pillars are like a applied vinyl wrap? Or a paint? Seems like the vinyl wrap would scratch after a few mechanical car washes?

 

Doesn't seem to be on my MBM (black) truck either. Must be just the dark colored trucks that it's not applied...

 

Blueprint without the A&B pillars vinyl wrapped looks wonderful.

Yup. Blueprint and black do not get it. Saw that when I was toying with the builder earlier tonight.

 

Why does Toyota install this black vinyl wrap on the A pillar? It is itemized on my Vspec sheet. "Gloss-black-painted A-pillar except on Midnight Black Metallic
and Blueprint." Seems it could be a cost savings not to do it. What a bummer.
