I have read many many many threads and I have a pretty good idea if I want to level the truck or turn it into a trails truck but nothing about comfort. I am curious to know if anyone has found out what one can do to get a more comfortable ride with changing shocks?? Fox 2.5 just for rears are asking 1299.95. And those have been mentioned a bunch for leveling but not much has been said about a more comfortable ride. The Chevy trucks used to ride smooth but I am not going to get a Chevy just for shocks!!!!:) just looking for more comfort and that is all. Not much for trails as I use the truck to pull things around and use the 4x4 when needed. Need more comfort for an aging broke down guy and his wife,, we like to take the truck on trips because of the room. Thanks in advance for suggestions.:). Ken

It'll never ride like a Cadillac, but you can definitely improve the ride. I personally went with Falcon Shocks from TeraFlex and Coachbuilder Shackles to maintain rake. I have been pleased with the comfort. It still feels like a truck, but the shocks and shackles take all the harshness out of the bumps and bounces.

I can't tell from your profile pic, but if you're on 20 inch wheels the extra sidewall on an 18 inch wheel does a lot to smooth things out as well.

And in all honesty OP be careful with “comfort” advice because you will see how dramatically different opinions are. For example I feel the Bilstein 5100’s are an excellent shock ESPECIALLY when loaded anywhere near max capacity. However from a comfort standpoint the Eibach adjustable shocks blow them out of the water. I wouldn’t classify Bilstein in any application as more comfortable than stock. With all this said they are very good but I would beg to differ with any member that say they ride nicer than stock shocks(my opinion for demonstration purposes only). They will be firmer like a sporty sedan which personally I don’t find as comfortable. Yet they extremely popular around here…

We've done a pretty good job at making trucks ride a lot smoother with our tuned shocks. Like mentioned above, a truck is a truck, so don't expect it to drive like something its not. Tuned shocks do make a pretty big improvement to ride quality. If the budget fits, it may be something to look at as a long term investment. Small price to pay to make your truck more comfortable to drive every day. More affordable shocks may be good enough, really boils down to your budget and what its worth to you.

same here. I put on Falcons and Coachbuilder shackles. Also went from a 20” wheel to a 17”. It’s still a truck, but like Adam said it really is a better ride - way smoother.

Quality shocks will make a world of difference.
Had Kings on a Tacoma and it was night and day difference on a trail after a long day of wheeling.
The stock shocks worked well until they get hot and started to fade.

Ordered Fox's from AccuTune for the Tundra. Hope to have them by Xmas.

I have traded the 19 Sport (as some might know because I have started a new mod thread). I traded for the TSS OffRoad 2021 not only did I get rid of the 4x4 and rough ride I accomplished getting a more comfortable ride without going crazy on the suspension. The ride on these shocks is sooo much smoother than the Sport,, even the wife noticed the difference. Didn’t trade the truck because of the ride but I am glad it helped fix the problem while doing so. It really is a smoother ride!!:)

I might add I am still rolling the 20s but I took off the Wranglers that came with it and put on Defender LTXs, and they are a smooth quiet ride along with the shocks Toyota uses for the TSS OffRoad

That would be the OR shocks you have now instead of the sport shocks. Glad it's working for you!

I choose the Offroad over the Sport for those very reasons OP. Congrats

Are you comparing the bilstein 5100 in their stock height groove or were you comparing a preloaded 5100 assembly to stock ride quality?

Because technically speaking a 5100 has 4 sets of ride quality characteristics built into it

Interesting about perspectives, I'm amazed at how comfortable the ride is with my Limited on 20's.

I have always used Bilstein’s one setting above stock (approximately 1 inch). I never went higher on any application. For stock applications I just went with 4600s which are much stiffer than Toyota factory branded Bilstein shocks.

I do see where you went with this though…

There has to be one in every crowd. If you find a car that can haul what the Tundra does let me know, until then I will stick with the Tundra and the shocks they use for the TSS OffRoad edition in 2 wheel drive!!

Eibach kit is perfect blend of comfort and support. Does that make it the fruit of the loom for trucks?
