five criteria: assembly location, parts content, engine origins, transmission origins and U.S. manufacturing workforce

I like how the Ranger is loosely based on the international ranger, and yet its more American than the F150 that is only sold in the US.

 

Goes to show you that "Made in America" or "Most American Made" ratings don't always equate quality or reliability.

• Canyon/Colorado - Have you ever worked on a Chevy Colorado or GMC Canyon? Yikes. Nuff said.
• Tesla - Most famous feature of their cars? PANEL GAPS.
• Ford Bronco - This one pains me to say because I really want to own one...but the new Bronco isn't building a reputation for reliability right now.

 

Buy American, they said.

 

sad how the 2nd gen was 10th and 3rd gen is now 23rd

 

i would like to know how the tundra isn't higher, pretty sure i remember seeing a parts origin sticker on it that said 95% US and 5% Japan

didn't read the article, don't know what they are using as their metric as for "american made"

as far as the chevy/gmc 1500, i want to say those 2 are made in mexico, i was gonna go for a gmc first, then saw where it was made and changed my mind, waaay to expensive to be built in mexico

10 spd is made by Aisin Corp (japan)
engine in alabama


the frame is convoluted

 

I think the transmissions get made in Texas. In 2021, Aisin opened a production facility in San Antonio. I wonder if the hybrid components are made in Japan. Really surprised about the frames. That seems so complicated.

 

yeah but i only see up to an 8-spd being built by the cibolo plant and its not even for the tundra

the 6-spd tacoma is made in the cibolo plant

 

8-speed? Maybe the HD trans for the RAM 2500. The press releases says they are opening the plant to manufacture “high quality/high performance automatic and Hybrid transmissions”. I would imagine that being close to Toyota’s San Antonio plant is to produce Tundra transmissions. But I can’t find any other information about their product line.
