I love my truck. It’s a tank and has held up great all these years. The most annoying thing I deal with is having to constantly tell people, who truly don’t understand certain Yota vehicles is that the “ringing” AIP sound during start up is normal for this type of truck and a few other Yota models. I even showed a video to prove a point. So let’s say I’m getting off work, obviously the truck has sat 8+ hours so when I start it up the air pump will kick on. Mostly non-Toyota people would look and question as if they thought something was wrong with my truck because of this high pitch sound that kicks off after a couple of seconds. Not just work but any place where the truck happens to be sitting for a period time. I’m used to it, actually like the sound, had AIP work done one time, and chose not to bypass it like others had.

And when you turn it off they run too which sounds weird. Sounds like a shop vac.

I deleted all of mine and it was shocking the first couple of turn on/turn offs. Oh the engine just turns off and is quiet??? Haha.

You sound insecure. Why do you care that much about what people who are pushing their F150 or making $1500/ mo payments on a new Ram think about sounds your Tundra makes?

Not that I feel insecure but it does get pretty annoying having to explain why my truck does that and why theirs don’t or why it’s normal for mine. Don’t forget the Chevy guys lol.

You don’t actually have to explain anything to them. But if you feel compelled, the best time to drop that yota knowledge on them is while you're all standing around in the parking lot waiting for the flatbed tow truck to come scoop their big 3 hoopty up.

You and I are not the same. I simply do not care about petty shit like that. Chevy guys? Never did meet one I found unforgettable. :D

There’s a noise at start up and shut down?

Your silent response will speak louder than your voice and videos. Or perhaps you mistake their curiosity for judgement, maybe they're ready to trade that chevy in on something 17 years old still running like a champ.

Actually, I’m assuming they want to feel superior about what they have by pointing out something that may seem “weird” about mine.

It’s always the big 3 vs Toyota type thing.

That sound on shut off... That's the warp drive powering down.
Seriously though it's come up once and I just said, "oh that, that's just the sound a badass makes, you wouldn't know anything about it."

Seriously? You're worried about what other people think about the sound your truck makes that much? Enjoy life... don't sweat the small crap! Just drive it and remind yourself that your resale value will be better than theirs in most cases.

No issues. 5.7liter million mile motor that has had every oil - - Tow package with tow mirrors. - King reservoir shocks front and rear - 6” Pro Comp Lift - SPC Upper Control Arms -20” Monster wheels w/35x13.50 Cooper STT Pro’s - Volant air intake - Maganaflow dual-in/ dual-out exhaust - onboard ViAir compression with tank - Kenwood upgraded audio for CarPlay, etc - Bought from original owner who has done too much to remember or list. - a few things I need help, suggestions and SUPPORT with that just need fixing
I’m going to have to listen for this specifically. I’ve never noticed it. But I’ll add my high performance BMW sounds like a jet engine for about 2 minutes after shutting off the engine while the fans continue to run to cool down the turbos. I’ve just gotten used to it. It might be happening on the Tundra but I haven’t heard it.
