That's a pretty damning review. Loud cabin, terrible towing, rough ride (considering the upgrade suspension), but capable off road.

Makes you realize Ford really hit it out of the park with the Raptor: capable off road and yet still very comfortable and near luxury interior.

Kind of a bummer to read, tbh. But I have yet to drive a TRD pro, so here's to hoping they're just being snobs and not actually critical.

That's truly a bummer to hear. I have to opportunity to get one new sometime in the next week, and considering I wanted a Ram Limited for it's air suspension ride quality, this and the turn radius may be a huge downgrade for me in terms of daily driving.

Its alright . I really like the finish and did consider other pickups but chose the Tundra .

Use it for my work and yea its a solid ride . Air ride would of been a nice option for sure .

    But i don't have a-lot of these issues otherwise . Maybe because mine is a 2023 ?

That's a pretty fair review honestly. They noted their concerns in a way that seemed reasonable. Toyota had a long time to get the gen 3 right and so far the reviews are really mixed. Blown engines, transmissions and rear differentials is really strange for a brand new Toyota. It really seems like they are struggling with quality control.

I'm curious if gen 3 owners are going to experience more issues as the miles increase.

They tested a 2022 late in 2022, why not a 2023? Did they have a ragged out truck that had been previously/repeatedly tested?

My ‘23 Pro is very quiet. Sounds deadened compared to the ‘22 SR5 I had. I didn’t think the SR5 was noisy, but this Pro is noticeably quieter.

I can’t remember what the underside of my ‘22 SR5 looked like, but I don’t recall seeing the foam sprayed on the underside body seems. It’s a thick application on the Pro. Maybe this kills the road noise?

You have an SR, which has the most basic shocks and suspension components. They are talking about the 2.5" Fox suspension.

Sounds like they don’t know how to set up a trailer. Otherwise, valid issues brought up.

I’m confused about the TRD Pro stiff ride comments as well. With the OEM Wildpeaks I felt the ride was soft, and a little mushy feeling.

I was concerned that going to an LT tire would make the ride harsh. Pleasantly surprised when the LT tire improved the handling, firmed up the ride, but remained comfortable, not jarring. I attributed this ride comfort to the Pro suspension, IDK. Not sure, but I’m loving it.

If i had to guess, they didnt have a weight distribution hitch on that trailer and so were well beyond Tundras(or the F150’s, or GM 1500’s) max weight carrying tongue rating

Other reviews seem to love the vehicle.

    https://www.hotcars.com/2022-toyota-tundra-trd-pro-review/

    https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/revie...d-trd-pro-hybrid-crewmax-5-5-bed-3-5l-review/

Most reviews I've watched on YouTube all seem to dig it. Only consistent complaints are turn radius.

Considering motor trend reviewed a test model TRD pro, and eventually made the ford lightning their truck of the year, I'm gonna go ahead and say they're biased. In fact I have the magazine in front of me now (not the one that mentions the lightning), and they seem to only gush about vehicles that are fully ev. Definitely a bias or an agenda.

The Lightning, as cool a concept as it is and as luxury as it is interior, just has too many of the same complaints. See the attached screenshot

They have some fair points and then some of it seems like hearsay/research on “other people’s issues” as I’m sure all the quality issues didn’t show up on their particular test vehicle.

Either way I don’t necessarily consider myself a Toyota fan boy but I love my Tundra…will see how it hold up against my neighbors new Ram 1500 on all the major items that count in my book and in particular why I bought the truck.

To be clear…I am very disappointed in the quality issues I have seen and heard about (very few on mine *knocks on wood*) but I trust they will make amends…especially as these reviews begin to permeate it’s corporate office and doors of its decision makers (be it here or Japan)

My thoughts are limited and down, it's a good vehicle. Not perfect but good. Different enough from the run of the mill big 3.
When you get into the upper trims - especially trd pro is when things fall apart. The raptor is head and shoulders in essentially every aspect and not much more money. Have a 22 raptor and 23 Sr5 with plenty of seat time in a 22 trd pro. Toyota just can't compete on the high end. Raptor is a different beast.

Could it be personal opinion? Harsh ride could be anything from the driver( driver doesn't know how to drive to conditions), wheel size, tire type, over inflated tires etc.

There is a big price difference between the two tho.. TRD pro is like a Trail boss or a Tremor not a ZR2/AT4X or Raptor.

What do you think between the Raptor and TRX though? If I were to move out of my 22 1794…that would be my temptation- and no, I don’t care about gas mileage as I WFH and if you are spending over $60k on any vehicle and worried about gas mileage…IMO you probably are overspending.

I respectfully disagree. When all is said and done and I've decked out the truck Tommy needs, I'll probably spend around $82-85k total on the truck.

That being said, there's something psychological about spending $120 every two weeks vs every 5 days. It may only mean the difference of an extra $66 a month, and call me cheap, but there is something about it that bothers me
