IMG_20200227_124223.jpg You could consider the CT which is often overlooked... Slightly more aggressive then the AT but not full on mud tire like the MT. I've had mine for about 10k miles so far an they perform really well an show no wear .

I’ve had the Toyo AT and now am on the MT. I am in the south east and use them on forest roads and muddy dirt roads to get into the woods. The only difference I’ve noticed is right at 45mph the MTs have a feeling that must be the tread pattern. As soon as I hit 47mph or whatever it goes away and that’s about the only difference I can feel from the AT. The MT may be a tiny bit louder but my TRD duel exhaust is louder than both and I was just on the highway at 70mph today. I’m sure the AT is lighter if you look at the specs. I’m on 285/75R18s. Either one is fine in my opinion. AT is probably the better daily driver but everyone knows that and wouldn’t be asking AT or MT if they secretly didn’t want the MT. I won’t tell.

I have had the rt before too and I really liked it . I am not a fan of the ridge grappler . I have a everyday driver truck for back and forth to work so I was leaning toward the mts . They look so bad ass ! I feel they aren’t loud either .

AT’s are rock throwing SOB’s!!! MT’s suck on Icy roads, and howl down the road, but don’t pickup rocks.. Tried a set of Hybrid Ridge Grapplers so far happy with them, kind of a jack of all trades. And they are not rock chuckers!

Not to sway you from Tokyo, but I was in the same debate, went with kenda klever R/T, in La clay and sand hunting lease/logging road, Levi roads, and DD highway miles, had them about a month and super happy. Not the inroad roar from a MT, but a diff hum tone. Buddy in Pacific Northwest said they were amazing up there in rain/snow/mud, too.

Toyo MT were the worst tire I've ever had in ice and snow. Scary bad! Not sure that is an issue where you live. Also really loud as they wear (as expected). I've had toyo AT in the past, but too wimpy tread. The new toyo AT3 look good but haven't heard performance reports on them yet.

Currently I have bfg KO2, they've been good all around. Really good in the winter for me. Might try AT3 next go around.

It really depends, if you love off-road adventure then go for MT, but if you'll use this truck on highways go for AT. I just recently install a Nitto Ridge Grappler, I don't know how it will perform on the snowy road since winter is coming.

I teetered back and forth on Open Country AT or RT and ultimately went with RT. Gas Mileage isn't great, but deflated a few lbs and they'll eat up anything. No regrets-20201108_221635.jpg

What gas mileage do you get? I have the rt and I get 10.1 mpg on it. I’m on 35s. Are you on 35s?

    11.6mpg, 35x12.5x18, 3" lift, 5.7L w/stock 4.30rear, Flat 34mi. Highway + 4mi. City commuting.

The AT probably would have been better by ~1.5MPG and would result in roughly $1,500 in fuel savings between the two over their lifetimes. But, excuse me, not intending to turn this thread to MPG.... :threadjacked:;);)

OP - Where do you live. I had MT's on my Jeep in Cali and they worked great there. Moved to the mountains in UT and MT's were horrible with snow. Dangerous. MT's definitely look better for the beefier look. I've gone with aggressive AT's since I moved here:

    - Duratrac's - Awesome in snow. Loud and low life span.
    - Ridge Grapplers - Bad in snow. Replaced after a couple months.
    - Toyo AT3's - I've had them for a couple months. No snow yet, so not sure about that. Have worked great in dirt and rocks in Moab.

Thanks for backing me up about MTs suck in winter conditions. I can honestly say my KO2s are better in 2wd on compact snow/ice then the MTs were in 4wd. Awful. Couldn't get those off fast enough.

Interested to hear feedback on AT3s, I'm going to be tire shopping in the spring.

The only snow where MT's would be good would be deep unpacked snow as they could clear the lugs faster. They're horrible in any compact as they have no siping. That's why the Ridge Grapplers where bad. The siping was shallow and not very extensive. Duratracs and AT3's go all the way down to the buttom of the lugs.

Just got back after some snow driving in the AT3's. No slipping in non compacted snow (2-3") and nothing on a little compact. Need to get more time on truly compacted roads after a big storm with a little decline. That will be the real test.

I've had both MT and RT, I liked the RT alot, and they lasted forever, but went back with MT this time, those RT were hard to clean out when I hit mud, and the MT just look sooooo good lol.

I have Toyo RT on my Sequoia. My Tundra has Cooper AT3 XLT. I like them both, no complaints. The Cooper AT3 is more quiet on highway but it's less aggressive than the Toyo RT.

I had RTs, decided to change it up so bought MTs, ended up they weren't in stock, so said fuck it and got the Wildpeaks. Happy with the choice, they don't look remotely as cool as a MT (and the RTs look especially sweet imo) but they're a hell of a lot cheaper and they are WAY quieter. I have my offroad toys if I want to show off tires, so having a truck I don't have to scream while driving to the trails was a benefit personally.

I have the AT3's. They are great on and off road so far in dry to damp conditions. A lot of mountain snow in the forecast here this week. I'll get up to the snow level and test them out this weekend! Judging by looks when compared to some past tries I've owned they should do just fine!

Duratracs are also a hybrid, and also severe snow rated. I've gotten very respectable tread life out of them.

FWIW, the RT doesn't have much siping.
