Anyone else had to remove some screws and fasteners on inside front fenders to remove mud, leaves and debris from inside it? I must have collected it in there while offloading otherwise it's just 3 years of dust buildup and perhaps the leaves got in there from up top on the sides of the hood where it meets the windshield. Either way I'm worried about Alkaline mud causing rust down the road if I left it so I dug it out. There was a LOT 20210801_093716.jpg

This is a known "feature". You are absolutely correct on the methods of accumulation. It's also possible to clear out this space by opening the front doors and pulling back the rubber gap filler at the bottom of the fenders near the front edge of the doors and the rear of the front fenders. You may need to dig the leaves out manually, but clearing out the dirt/mud can be done with a garden hose.

Man. I had no idea. Thanks for the post Mike. Driver side was nasty (that side is parked near a crape myrtle). Passenger side was empty.

If you've got mud there, then you should check your frame. The inside of the C channel frame is a mud hoarder:mudding:
