Ahhhh!!! Wtf??? That can’t be good. Are your windows tinted and do you put a visor up? It’s not impossible for the sun to hit a water bottle or something like it in your truck and create a magnifying glass effect.

Seems like it would be darn near impossible for sun to shine through a bottle at such an angle that it would go that far up on the dash but I guess anything is possible

I've seen plastics damaged from sun here at home (it gets hot) but they don't look like that. There's usually a point of burn, that looks like an entire corner is getting hot. Not an arc of sunlight. Have to admit I'm now morbidly curious, please let us know what the hell happened when you find out and sorry you're going to have to deal with it.

I would expect a sun burn/hot area to be more localized instead of a wider area. It looks like something is getting hot behind the dash or maybe the coating/finish on the radio got hardcore botched at the factory.

Are you parking near any buildings that have glass and reflecting sunlight through a window? It's just at a really weird angle on the nav screen border.

Not that it’s the case, but sunscreen, especially the aerosol can do this to coated plastics.

    Flux capacitor!
What kind of cleaning or chemicals did you use on the inside of the truck? Was this something you noticed after you detailed it or before?

Tint and wheels. Decked box in the bed. S and B Cold Air filters under the hood. Shiftpower throttle response controller.
Looks like chemical to me. Maybe splashed something? Nah, you would probably have a drip/run or two.

Is this part wrapped from the factory? Looks to me like it's bubbling up as if some sort of adhesion problem? Never seen that before and it's damn hot here in Phoenix. Keep us posted on the dealerships response.

I’ve had this happen to 2 of my vehicles. First one was from a bath and body works car air freshener that leaked. The stuff that leaked out melted the plastic it touched and looked exactly like that.
And my tundra being the second one. Has it in that small compartment between the shifter and the center console. I have no idea how it happened this time. But it looks the same.

I had a Febreze auto deodorizer to leak and do this once. Melted and softened the area of the dash that got wet. This was in the GMC I owned before my Tundra. Will never use those again.

That’s it! the wife had one of those stupid bath and body works apple air fresheners hanging off my radio knob and I took it off to clean my truck today and that’s why I didn’t notice it before because that stupid apple was hanging over it. Jeez I knew you guys would figure it out before the dealership. Now the question is what to do about it

Glad to help pin point the cause.
Since my incident I don’t use any liquid or gel air fresheners.
Makes you wonder they put in those things.
