It seems the max speed I can go is about 65mph. It doesn't seem to shift so I can go any faster. I assumed it was transmission so I took it to a transmission shop. They said no issues, take it to the dealership to see if any codes pop up. I just had my family mechanic look at it (I just bought it) he had already replaced belts (just in case), replaced the gasket cover (was leaking), spark plugs, etc. And didn't see any other issues. The dealership I purchased the truck from just had the 21 point inspection done- I didn't see where anything else had come up. Any thoughts?

    What's the rpm at 65mph?

Put it in S mode and shift manually slowly see if you can feel the upshifts all the way to 6th gear. So start from 1st, shift to 2nd--feel the upshifts, then to 3rd and so on. Find a not busy road to do this.

You slide the shifter over towards you from "D" to "S", then you can manually shift through the gears. Depending on where you live you may have recourse with the dealership if you act quickly enough.

So update- Toyota dealership says it's Air Injection Pump Failure on passenger left side. The emission system scam! Every truck I have ever owned has had emission error codes! (Error codes P0419, 92437, P2443, P2247) It's causing my motor to go into "safe mode" 2K to fix at the dealership. From research on here I see people saying they pay to have it fixed and less than 2 years later it goes out again. (If both sides go out truck will only go 30 mph and obviously the cost is higher to fix both sides) I ordered the bypass unit- Gen-II SAIS Bypass Kit (again from doing research on here reading posts) $400 through Hewitt Technologies.

Hope this helps someone else in the future!!! If anyone asks me down the road how the bypass kit is doing- I will answer!

Welcome from TX! Sucks that you just got the truck and this is already happening. Unfortunately (unless someone figured out it recently) this issue isn't something that can be observed through the inspections and before it starts throwing codes. Hopefully now that you have the bypass kit in it will all be smooth sailing. What's next on the list for the truck?

Thank you! I knew about the issues when I bought it, just didn't know it would throw the motor into "safe mode". I got a steal of a deal on the truck so it's all good! Sucks- but I expected some issues since it's an '07. I plan on keeping her for years.... I put a new system in the truck with a backup camera, adding the amp/subwoofer today! Can't wait to be done with everything tho!!!

I’ve had the bypass on my 07 for over three years no issues
Depending on if the valve is stuck open you need the blocking plates if it’s just a bad pump you might be able to just use the bypass wire harness
And I AGREE about the emission scam I think every vehicle I’ve owned since 2000 has had emissions issues
Toyota’s sais is the most expensive to fix that I’ve seen (thank god for the bypass) but Chrysler and GM evap pumps and charcoal canisters aren’t cheap

My jewel started this today on my way to work. Shifts fine 1st thru 4th but nothing higher. Parked it back in garage till I have time to look at it. I'm reading this bypass system works for those who have installed it. Question: how difficult is it to install for a "general maintenance type of guy" and which brand is recommended here? She's a strong truck with 285k on her still strong as ever but beginning to show some age.
    Thanks in advance

You should have codes in the ECU, have that checked before spending any money.

I have installed the Gen 2 kit. The electrical part was easy, the block off plates was harder but doable. You have to install block off plates between the operating valve and the tube that goes to the exhaust manifold. Installing the block off plates is important it keeps heat from getting to the pressure sensors that are inside the operating valve which would damage them and throw a code
