Navigation Map DVD

Just bought a 2008 Tundra and the map DVD is the original 2006 data disc. Dealer says $169 for one that will bring me to 2016. Are there cheaper options to get modern nav data? Or is it an aftermarket stereo head for me?

 

Definitely upgrade to an aftermarket head unit and Android Auto or Apple Carplay on your phone for navigation with Google or Apple Maps. It will be SO MUCH better.

I had bought a 3rd party DVD which was basically a copy of the Toyota maps on eBay for around $15. It works fine. Two years ago, I just upgraded my stereo and now use Waze/Google maps.

 

I need to update my maps on my 2018 Tundra. Can it be updated? I really don’t want a new head unit.

 

Yes, I think the gen 2.5 uses sd card for map data
