Hey all, I could use some help. I had an old phone charger that I didn't realize was bad, and like an idiot I plugged it into both the plugs under the radio and the plug in the center console before I realized it was blowing fuses. I tracked down the fuses that were blown and replaced those and the 12V outlets started working again, but now my head unit is acting like it's dead. Won't turn on at all when I start the truck, no backup cam, nothing. Could I have fried it somehow while checking and replacing fuses? I don't understand what's going on. The fuse in the driver side kick panel is fine, is there another one I should check?

Thanks for any help you can give. This is for a 2018 by the way.

If you killed your headunit, my 2016 fits I think, non-JBL anyway. I'd sell it for cheap.

Otherwise I'd replace every fuse affected in the cab, even if it looks fine, fuses are like 10¢

Likely another fuse. There are fuses under the dash and also under the hood, so check both areas. The fuse box cover lids will have a diagram of what fuses go where.

    And this should help https://imgvehicle.com/toyota/tundra-ii/fuse-box

Yeah I've checked them all, but maybe I should just replace them to be on the safe side. It's just weird to me that it would go out after I just replaced a fuse. Not sure what would have caused that.

If the headunit is dead though, I would definitely take you up on that. I don't think there should be a difference between 2016 and 2018, and I don't have JBL. Let me know what you want for it.

Ive had issues on toyotas where I had a problem, checked the fuses and they were not burnt/bad. Fixed my issue at the time by reseating the fuses. Worth a try

Yes indeed, I always replace anytime there's a question on a fuse. They're too cheap to be slapping your forehead later when you pull out a multimeter for continuity testing and discover it melted a 0.5mm segment out of sight in the plastic, but only after you tear everything apart to find out.

As another poster mentioned, there's cabin fuses and there's engine bay fuses, I'd swap anything cab-related in the engine bay fusebox too.

Cheapest I'm finding a 2014-2021 headunit on eBay is $350. I'll beat that anyday by $50 and cover the shipping to you (unless you're in MN, then I'll just bring it to you)

Do you guys know if there's a way to verify that the HU is dead other than just making sure all the fuses are good?
