I went with the cut and clamp carven exhaust, however the drone is driving me crazy on highways even with OEM resonator. Thinking of just putting back the old OEM muffler back on. Looks like I’ll need a 3.25" ID to 3.25" ID exhaust pipe connector to achieve that.
However can’t find one anywhere online. Has anyone tried to “undo” the mistake and have a solution or advice ? lol

Bubba at the muffler shop could prolly do it in about 15 minutes for a case of beer.

Bubba at the muffler shop will leave it looking something like this..

I had the same issue when I replaced my Magnaflow with the drone from hell, to a Dirty Deeds bolt onto OEM pipes BAM.
I had to get the OEM fittings back.
In this case, I ended up buying a new tail pipe..

Yeah I don’t want a bubba hack job like that.
I’m just surprised why I can find a fitting with every diameter you can think of except for the one I need

??? the coupler sleeve should slide into the muffler stub and over the section left in place you left downstream of the "y" or you could get a 3" OD to 3" OD and have a muffler shop expand it for you? Seems like an online place should have something. Hope you get if worked out.

    I don't remember.
A 2 in 1 out, not sure which one.
It sounded OK around town but sucked on the highway.
@dirtydeeds is the best option for Tundra aftermarket exhaust.
Bolts on directly to OEM pipes..

I’m thinking of just getting a shop to weld a flange set on both ends of the pipes. Something similar to this but 3”

Not yet, has been pouring rain everyday and dry on days I’m working. I ended up getting one of eBay sellers to custom make me a 3 1/4 ID to 3 1/4 coupler for $20 shipped so waiting for that to come. Might just try that first with some exhaust tape on top. If that holds then scrap the welding the flange on both ends idea

Back in the day we had a local Midas Custom Exhaust shop near me (not a std Midas shop). They had all the tools and supplies to fabricate just about anything ones heart desired. I took my 1970 Chevelle into them when my backyard hack exhaust job started to fail and they made up the sweetest custom dual exhaust I've ever had with 45 degree angle side exhaust outlets in front of the rear tires and a custom crossover. Fit and finish was exceptional and I got a ton of complements about looks and sound of it from folks. All custom mandrel bent tubing. Properly done pipe expansion where called for. Beautiful welds at the header adapters. And the great thing is it didn't really cost much more than than a crappy off the shelf bolt on kit.

I'd look for a custom/race shop to do the work if you don't want to just cram a bunch of adapters and pipe pieces together.

I still have a lot of Midas shops around me but they have mostly switched to tires now. Young guys working there probably have no skill in welding properly. For now it’s just going to be one connection that’s a slip on. The rest is all factory. But I know what you mean

    edit: typos

DM me who it was - I may need one too. Thanks and GL with the swap - should be easy. Lots of local mom and pop shops here that do bench welds for cheap - you might find one too around your neighborhood.

Just how bad is the drone? I was 2 secs from buying the Cut & Clamp but the coupon code wouldn’t work. Then I came across your post and put on the brakes. I’m planning to hear the exhaust in person from another member this weekend. I tried the AFE cat-back exhaust and the drone at highway speeds was tooooooo much.

The drone is only present when you are under heavy foot on the skinny pedal - acceleration or towing up a grade and accelerating. Then it goes away as the rpm stabilizes. No drone and no obnoxious exhaust note when constant rpm or light to moderate acceleration. I tow a lot so my Carven will be coming off in a few months when camping season comes.

It’s too much. At high RPMs when flooring it, sounds like a sport bike, but at lower RPMs and when towing it’s definitely low deep rumble with drone. Probably going to take it off. Plus my fit isn’t snug. I didn’t get shims when I bought it off second hand and clamp isn’t strong enough. That probably contributes to increase in drone as well

Yeah any aftermarket exhaust is going to have more drone when towing. Why don’t you just install the DD resonator?

Autozone exhaust lap-band clamp #95300. Or equal. Add some high temp (red) exhaust sealer over surfaces. Cuts butt up in oem position like new. Will be my answer for going back to oem set-up.
