    Hey guys,

    I need help real bad.

So, I bought a set of Ebay fog lights (see attached). Now, it's not the exact same one but 99% of it is the same except for the light switch (the one I received is just like the OEM, flat push latching type).

As you can see the set came with a separate relay, inline fuse, fog lights, and wiring harness. I decided I wanted to forego the wiring harness that came with the set and use the pre-wired stock fog light harness + a Denso relay into the fuse box for my '08 CrewMax. But I did need the switch line harness (see attached pic) so I snipped the three wires: black, yellow, and 1 red. I know the switch has 4 lines (black, yellow, and 2 reds) but the 2 reds are joined into one down the harness so that's where I cut the lines: black, yellow, and one red.

I followed the instructions shown on the following youtube vid but the fog lights wouldn't turn on. https://youtu.be/OQiFLtb-mnU

Then on two occasions and I heard an acute click sound as if a fuse was blown. I'd attempt to turn the ignition and I'd get nothing--no lights inside, no display lights, no turnover, no crack, no anything. I checked the fuses and none of them were blown. I'd wait 10 minutes and the truck would come back to life. Strangest thing. Anyone else experience the same problem using the youtube vid above? Do you think I may have a bad tap connection?

Anyhow, I decided to attempt the FogLightsV3.pdf (option B) https://www.tundras.com/threads/diy-fog-light-mod.371/

My question to you guys is for the wiring of the switch to activate the fog lights, which wire from the switch (yellow, 1 red, and black) do I attach it to the pink wire (Pin wire #28 on J3 main body ECU)? And where do I attach the other wires? I know the black is ground but what about the other?

P.s. - kind of has me irked that I now have exposed wires (to an extent) using the youtube method. Don't know why it didn't work.

Ok, so what I can tell is you want to use the stock fog light switch to control the new fog lights. And you want them to be able to turn on anytime you want?

You are correct on the gray wire that runs to #86 on the relay, then #85 to the ecu plug(pink wire), not on plug side.

#30 from relay to fog light plug 3 and #87 to fog light plug 5

Just watched the video, it's completely different wiring than the instructions that came with the lights.

Use the wiring harness and wire to the fog lights, plug and play.
    Now take your relay

    85 to ground
    30 to battery, fused
86 tap into positive wire on (tundra) fog light plug
87 to the wires(positive) that go to new fog lights

    Yes, exactly!

So, it looks like relay 85 should be connected to "existing wire going to fog light switch" but which "existing" wire on switch? I have 3 to choose from: black, red, and yellow.

Also, it looks to appear as if wire from relay 85 is split and connected to pin 28 pink wire and "existing wire" going to the fog light switch. Am I reading this right?

Forget that video. That video is whack. Didn't work which is why I opted to go with Eddie's anytime fog lights.

Probably didn't work for me because I have factory alarm activated and pre-wired fog lights. IDK

You cut the pink wire in half, and only attach to the side that doesn't plug back in

You don't run it to your switch, you run it to the pink wire on the plug of the ecu. That's the wire coming from the switch

Ohhhhh, so the pink wire connected from the main ecu remains unused? And it's only there with female connector attached if I want to convert back to stock?

    Dude, I'm so confused.

So which wires get attached to the fog light switch?

Nothing goes to your foglight switch, the pink wire comes from Your foglight switch, that's the positive wire that turns them on

Okay, here is the actual pic of the fog light switch display 3 wires.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm to connect relay 85 to "existing wire going to fog light switch". Now take a look at the attached pic of the 3 existing wires coming from fog light switch and tell me which one I'm supposed to connect 85 to? Or again am I reading this wrong?

I'm sorry for my lack of understanding instructions/diagrams but thank you for your patience.

Wait, ok, I thought you had a different switch. Since you don't have an existing stock fog light switch, don't worry about the pink wire. The 2 wires go straight to the relay and the ring is a ground. Let me take a look and see what the others would go to

Did you install a fog light relay under the hood, like in the video you posted?

Ok, so which relay pin does the white connect to? And which pin does the red wire connect to?

Forget that video but yes I have a relayed inserted in the fuse box. LOL. I'm mad about that vid because I had to tap into my wires and it didn't even work. LOL

How is your relay wired right now?

    I'd run red to 86

    87 to lights
    30 power to battery, fused
    85 to ground

White could be wire to illuminate switch with instrument lights

It's not wired to anything. I'm getting it mocked up for the Eddie anytime lights.

So I do above in addition to Eddie's wiring diagram? So confused. Also, I prefer to use the pre-wired fog harness that came with the truck.

If you do it that way, you don't need Eddie's wiring. They'll come on anytime you push the button

    Oh!

But will I have to use their fog light harness as opposed to my pre-wired OEM harness? The goal is to use the OEM pre-wired harness.

Then wire up the your relay like Eddie version to have anytime fogs, red to lights, white illum, black ground. So it looks like you will have to cut the pink wire now
