New here, and been browsing for a few days before signing up.

My Grandfather has a perfect 2003 Tundra sr5 access cab, unfortunately its a 2wd. it has 78k miles on it. All stock, 17" factory wheels, and a bedliner. garaged its entire life.. We are in Oklahoma...

Dont see many of these for sale, and wondered what price a truck like this would bring. I may buy it off him, but i dont need it being a 2wd.

But wondered if anyone had a thought on pricing for such a low mile, 23 year old truck. I drove it and its basically like a new one. of course he has all the paperwork, oil changes, timing belt, etc etc etc,

    thanks in advance!IMG_4007.jpg

$10-20k depends on the buyer. Nothing wrong with 2wd. Rust will modify this response value.

That's clean, put it up for 15k and see what happens.

Bring a trailer site is for clowns. Now that being said, you could try your luck there yourself. I think those sales are a bit misleading as there are many fees not included in all of that paid by buyer and seller. Open market? 2wd trucks don’t do near as well as 4wd. They can be converted to 4wd, mostly plug and play with the hardware off of a wrecked 4wd for cheap. Several members here have done it.

Sellers pay $99 for listing. For the exposure, it is not a bad cost.

Buyers pay 5% of the final sales price.

BaT has a large audience and a lot of cars/trucks sell on there now. We can see prices and the ads for the trucks that sold. Not really available with many of the online sales outlets.

i wasnt necessarily going to use bring a trailer to sell it, but was curious what they sell for anywehre. of course my local ad wouldnt get the views, etc, but sounds like $12-15k is not a crazy value for this truck it appears. hard to judge local ads as there is NONE for sale with this ones specs.

With the current economy & price of new trucks . . . not everyone is willing or able to plunk down a $15K down payment and finance an additional $45K+ on a new truck.
That's where these trucks 'IMO' get a little $$$ boost in the used truck market.
Sure it's 23 years old, and sure these trucks have their issues . . . but to the right buyer it's a no brainer, especially with the Toyota reputation of reliability.
All that being said, when I say 'the right buyer', I don't think that's a very narrow segment, it just may take a little more time & effort to get a good price for it.
But there's plenty of buyers out there.

    Side note . . . I had a neighbor recently grenade a motor on a full size dodge w/ 200+K, miles.
Now he's really in a pickle because the truck isn't worth much at all in it's current state even though the truck itself is in pristine condition.
It's going to cost him a gang of money to repair it, and he wants a new one . . . so using the truck as a down payment the way it is now . . . maybe $2K-ish if he's LUCKY .

Then my other neighbor has a Tahoe w/ 260K miles (her husband is a complete idiot BTW ) that's ready to die.
I told her, 'Take it to Car Max now and sell it' . . . she replies, "I put a new transmission in it 6-7 years ago", I said, "Well, you can drive it into the ground and then you'll almost have to pay for someone to take it, or you can sell it now while it's still in working condition and get some fair money for it". She says, "Yeah, you're right, my daughters even told me to sell the back seat separately since they get stolen all the time and I'll get more money that way.

My point is . . . how many Toyotas do you see on the road with 200-300-400+ thousand miles on them vs domestic trucks ???
And there in lies the 'value'.

12-15k is fair price for private sale. My guess is if you list it anywhere, you'll get lots of interest.
