So like everyone else, I have been waiting to lift my tundra 3 inches since summer. I’ve been waiting for the release of 6112 from being back ordered and know that Toytec is available.

Whats everyone’s thought on Toytec vs the 6112? For the ones that went Toytec, what’s your thoughts and reviews ?

    Thanks

Toytec alumas will be better than 6112s. Good info, pics, reviews for those and many other options in the suspension forum here and use search in upper right to more easily find that you are looking for.

I'm in the same boat, waiting on the 6112's to come in stock. But I'm wanting to piggy back off of the OP from @jaflynn738, and ask a follow up question.
How do the Toytec 2.0 Aluma Series Rear shocks compare to the 5160's. Not sure if I'm just wanting to be brand loyal or something, but feels odd to have Toytec's on front and Bilstein's on rear.

I have used the "box in the upper right" and haven't found much for comparing Toytecs vs 5160's.
Stock issues are having a lot of us rethink our future set up's.

Had given it much thought, but I have been looking at those. Have also looked at 5100's,Eibach and also EMU. Any thoughts on those ? It would be used 99% on road and not off road.

    Thanks again

I installed the Eibach front coilovers and rears shocks on my truck and am really pleased with the ride. I was considering 6112s/5100s but the wait time wasnt worth it to me. Couldnt be happier with the choice i made.

I went with the Stage 1 Kit up front set at 2" and then no rear lift. Just replaced the shocks.

Thank you again for that, do you mind sending picture of your truck so I could compare. What size tires and wheels did you go with?

I went with 295/70/18s on Toyota OEM +60mm wheels and only have a very slight rub on the passenger side sway bar at full lock. I would consider getting one of these shims to help with the typical "driver side lean" like I did.

    Thanks.

They're something like that. I just took a look at the TRD Pro wheel and tire threads and people didnt have any issues with the factory 2" lift they have from the dealer with OEM wheels in that tire size. I would not go any wider in tire size because it will rub on the upper control arm since there's maybe a finger width left of room.

Better ride. Lots of info and reviews on this site to support that statement.

I'm not seeing that at all. I can believe Toytecs are a better choice if you want a smooth street ride, but that isn't a universal "good" if your priority is better handling or offroad performance. In capability the Toytecs are like the stock Bilsteins (2" monotube), only with different valving and adjustable preload.

6112 fronts are bigger and the rears have an external reservoir, which are good for avoiding overheating and fade when you are using them hard. They also have higher damping and digressive damping which increases small bump harshness, but improves handling and offroad performance.

Just so you know... if you lift the front ~2" you'll be level... and you won't need anything else. If you lift 3" you need UCAs, your CV joints will wear out sooner, and you need to lift the rear.

A 2" lift is more than enough for 37s.

Yeah thank you for that. I was leaning on the old man Emu 612's which is at 3 inches, but I'm up in the air again since I won't be using it much for off-road. I will say that my stock Bilstein rides nice and imagine the 6112 would be the same. I just hate to wait till May before being able to get the 6112.

Probably not the best choice for street. I think you'll be fine with Toytec or Eibach for street use. I'm not sure what Toytec says, but you can dial in the ride height of the Eibachs with them still on the truck, which is very nice.

I’d call around on the 6112/5160’s. This past fall they were seemingly on back order everywhere but if you call different suppliers sometimes they can give an accurate eta. I was set to go with Toytec when I found a supplier in CA that said they were getting a new shipment in that week. Ordered them and they shipped within two days even though the site still said “back ordered”. Just a thought if the bilstein is really what you want.

Thank you for that, what notched did you go with the 6112 and how did you like to ride? Also what tire size did you go with?

Also, if you go with the 5160s in the rear they only extend an extra 2 inches.

My 6112s are stiff as f*ck.
Rear 5160s ride the same as the 5100s I had on before them.
