Just bought a 2023 SR5 4x2 yesterday and plan on installing a K&N CAI and the Flowmaster FX cat-back exhaust. My brother is saying that it might need a “tune” after installing these. Is this true, and if so, where do I go to get this done? Thanks for the help.

K&n hot air intake is a waste of money if you're after performance gains.

You wont need a tune and good thing since none are available yet

So just keep the cat-back exhaust and cancel the CAI? Or cancel the cat-back, too and go through DirtyDeeds? I’m open to advice since I’m new to trucks and haven’t done any mods on a vehicle in 20 years. Thanks again

Good call. Toyota makes such an efficient air intake on their trucks that a CAI is kind of pointless. Just do drop in performance filters and you are good-to-go. As far as exhausts go, I'd recommend the TRD Pro exhaust and/or @dirtydeeds muffler. Tundras are known to be very temperamental when it comes to changing exhaust piping and nobody knows the trucks better that Toyota and Dirty Deeds. No tune is required for these basic mods.

And Toyota doesn’t even make a TRD filter or exhaust yet for the 2023. Oh well, guess I’ll be waiting in line with the others. Thank you all again for the advice.

There are TRD filters for the stock boxes. S&B is supposed to launch soon. The AFE CAI probably sounds better but doesn't show performance gains.

Note that the TRD exhaust doesn't change the muffler. It eliminates the resonator behind the muffler. The exhaust is a little louder after changing pipes but not severely so.

Most "tunes" applicable to N/A engines are a BS for turbo engine. Best tune is a software remap.

Cat-back is BS. If you want less backpressure you need a bigger diameter right after the turbos.

Thanks again for the info, y’all got me squared away. Bought the drop-in air filters and I think I’m going to just leave it alone after that haha.

Mods are not going to buy you anything on the stock tune. You NEED a tune for them to even have a chance to make a difference(assuming the stock parts are inadequate in the first place).

The torque and hp on these engines are completely artificial in that its entirely controlled by the PCM. Getting a better flowing intake or exhaust will not change the power that the PCM is targeting.

i have a 19 and I put the TRD CAI on and too question it...I'd like to just buy drop in replaceable filters for it and ditch the oil hassle end of it. Does anyone know where the replaceable filters are sold that will fit???
