When people have these newer vehicles with the turn signals so low on the bumper. Its just plain dangerous for us in big trucks let alone semi's. I had a car pull right in front of me with their turn signal on but they were close enough that i didn't see it blinking until it was already in my lane. What are y'alls thoughts?

I'm waiting for the right bumper sticker to put on the back of my truck for the idiots that get so close they literally disappear behind me.

The way this is worded it makes it sound like you are getting to close to other vehicles. I'm sure that's not what you meant, but that's the image it's painting.

I agree with the OP. Having the blinker like 2 feet below the brake lights is just idiotic. Not sure who thought this was angood idea but its dumb as hell.

I think it's Hyundais have the turn signal low, completely separate from the brakelights, not a safe design, in my opinion. And I understood OP saying the guy pulled in front of him, not that the car was in front of him already.

Saw a Mini Clubman the other day with brake lights on the bumper and tail lights were glorified turn signals... They did not light up when brakes were pressed but the bumper lights did. They fully illuminated when the turn signals was on though.

Thought that was odd and likely an electrical issue but maybe not?

Yeah, seems dumb. The D pillar tail lights of the 90s actually made a lot more sense.

I understand that he said they pulled in front as well, but it's still confusing. If somebody cuts into your lane close enough that you can't see those blinkers, it wouldn't matter if they had them on or not. Would it? I'm just not seeing a scenario where these are an issue if all drivers are operating at a proper following distance. They shouldn't move in that close regardless of the blinker location.

Totally agree. I noticed it too. It makes no sense that manufacturers did that. DOT should make it where they have to be a minimum height above ground level.

Let's not go pointing out nails to the idiots that are packing hammers. If they require a minimum height you start screwing with overall car design. Some cars sit low enough that their highest rearward point might fall below the level they DOT selects. Adding government seldom solves any kind of problem.

Yes, and I wish all those that do use them would also look before they switch lanes. I swear, with some folks it's simply signal and go. No need to look as long as they signal.

Hate those. It's completely legal to pass on the right in my state, as it should be to get around the jackholes that try to slow others down.

I've only seen em on a semi where they make so much sense. Definitely hate the speed limit left lane cruisers, truckers don't do that for the most part

Have my CDL, still hate the stickers, and the asshole truckers I've seen swerve or honk at people passing on the right because they are moving slow in the left and there is plenty of space to get around them safely.

Ah yes. The bone headed truckers. Can't blame someone who wasn't properly trained though, seems more and more companies are just giving em the 101 and sending em
