    Hey all,

Thinking this will be the week I pull the trigger and was wondering if anyone has any experience with the new Cooper Road and Trail.

Did have my mind set on the Toyo Open Country AT3 due to the light weight of the 275/60r20 @ 42lb

Either way I’m looking to go light and stick to just a tad larger than stock and go for the 275/60r20 so I don’t get whacked too much in the MPG dept.

Admittedly don’t go off-road but do live in Fl and so rain is a factor and wet/sometimes steep boat ramps.

I’m so done looking online and plus with the new Cooper there ain’t much online anyways.

    Thanks to all in advance…

    David

I’ve been extremely happy with the performance of my Cooper AT3 XLT’s in the rain. They’re relatively quiet too and have been wearing evenly.

I'm in same position deciding what tires for my Tundra. Will change out late summer.

I ran the Coopers on my TRD Pro 4 Runner and found them excellent.

Well, based on the reviews on here (Thanks Everyone), I’m going to go with the Coopers

Apparently everything I’ve read said the Discoverer Road and Trail is replacing the AT3 4s, at least that’s what I read.

Apparently about 43 1/2 lbs or so even though the weight isn’t listed on Coopertire.com

Get them installed on Friday and will let everyone know how they are.

    65,000 warranty just like the AT3 4S

So do guys feel Cooper is no good now since Goodyear bought them?

Not too late for me to switch, thought most people here were happy with them :(

The only reason I know who bought them is my son works for Discount Tire. I’ve been a big Cooper fan for years because they have great tires at what used to be reasonable prices. Now that they’ve become popular, their prices are in the stratosphere like everybody else. Kind of like Falken Wildpeaks.

My son was told Goodyear is letting Cooper operate as normal and is not interfering with them, but who knows how long that will last. I too am not a fan of Goodyear tires because every single one I’ve ever owned has been crap.

Cooper is trash get the nitto ridge grappler ats they now come in xl ply 60s and 116ts in 65s. They are made by toyo, I run the toyo at3s and they are awesome definitely worth the reputation, but I'm thinking they are over kill on a Tundra. The ridge grapplers were not avaliable in those load ratings when I bought the e rated toyos. I would not run Goodyear or Cooper anything in my vehicles.

Toyos. I have 2 AT3’s currently that required zero weights to balance out.

That is due to their manufacturing process they will balance out with .25 or .50 or even 0 all time every time.

Right. But it speaks volumes to their quality. This is the only tire I’ve ran multiple times and got no less than 55k out of each set. These AT3’s are my 4th set of Toyo ATs

I was never a fan of Goodyear because most have not performed well on the road…at all. Especially in rain and wintery conditions. Then they took a particular position on a subject that I adamantly disagree with.

Don’t have any experience with Coopers but I won’t own them simply because they are owned by Goodyear. Goodyears performance are subpar IMHO especially their truck tires. Slightly better luck with the car tires.

They put wranglers on stock jeeps and dodges, I wasn't pooping on the cooper's but they have always been a lower grade tire from a Michelin or Toyo. If you want a light truck tire get the Michellin defender ltxs but if you want the best all terrain tire then get the toyo at3s. They are the gold standard for all terrains. The nitto ridge grapplers are lighter come in xl and t plys so you get better gas mileage. I didn't even check the warranty on the toyos before I bought them. Michelin pilot super sports are the gold standard for sport performance tires and I run them as well on my cars. Like the guy said above me he got 50-60k miles on his toyos.

I’ll put another good word in for the Toyo OC ATIIIs. Had them on my 4Runner and like them so much I bought a set for my Tundra. Great riding true AT but might be more than you need if you don’t venture off road. Since you’re in FL I’ll mention that they’ve been excellent in the rain at highway speeds. FWIW, the C-rated version I have is made in the US.

I'm almost ready for new tires and was looking at the Michelin LTX A/T 2. Any thoughts?

Many people here don’t rate them very well.

I think they are excellent and far better than any other “stock” tire I have ever gotten on a new vehicle.

Great handling in the dry, good handling in the rain, and gets the job done in wintery conditions. The LTX 2’s are a much better tire all the way round (as they are against many AT tires).

Super quiet and barely any wear at 20k miles…

Check out Continentals as well. I love to research things for the future. Their AT tire gets great reviews. Just realize they are a “road” oriented AT tire like the AT2 and NOT like a Toyo AT3 which is more offroad oriented.

I had a terrible experience with Cooper AT3s. For the first 15K they were great but degraded into absolute junk by 30K. I don't think I'll try another set of Coopers again.

Looks like Falken offers the AT3W in 275/60/20 SL load, but a tad heavier at ~48 lbs. That might be a good choice as well.

They were Discoverer AT3, 265/75/16 on a Tacoma OR. Discount could never get them to balance and they hit the wear bars at 30K. Discount warrantied them out at that point.

I'm hard on tires - but not that hard :burnrubber:

I usually replace with Michelins. Been a few years, but when I had a heavy duty diesel it ate a set of original equipment Continentals and replacements Goodyears in 15k miles each. I got 50k+ out of 2 sets of Michelin eloads.

I never buy off road tires since I never leave pavement and dont buy for looks so no input there
