I couldn’t find a post regarding this so I apologize if I missed it.

Just got a new Platinum TRD off-road. I don’t know what I don’t know so I thought I’d come here to ask everyone’s opinion.

What should a new owner do to care for his/her/its truck? What would you do differently? What do you wish that you did/didn’t do?

And before you trolls start with the “take it back” comments, don’t. Just scroll on and get back to crocheting.

I just got mine and first priorities were anything protective wise. PPF if/where wanted. Inlays for cup holders etc to keep clean / scratch free. I wanted a rubber bed mat, bed cover, and good wash and wax. Those were to immediate priories for me, in no particular order. Next immediate item is doggy backseat cover (golden retriever) so it’s a necessity for me, ha!

like your ride? Congrats dude! I bet it’s purty!

Says the guy who's truck is sitting in his yard because his wife won't let him drive it due to of the "risk" factor. LOL! Just poking a little fun....

+ mud flaps I forgot those, did the Amazon ones and had no issues

if you get a bed cover make sure your hardware is there but ALSO check the cover itself BEFORE BEFORE BEFORE you start any install - make sure there are no broken plastic pieces on corners etc anywhere etc. (I’ll spare you the long story)

Read the owners manual front to back. I know it’s tedious, but in my opinion it is one of the best things an owner of a new vehicle can do to take care of it. Are you going to have problems; maybe. But enjoy it regardless.

^^^This^^^ There is so much tech in that truck, there will be features you will never find on your own.

Also, professionally installed ceramic paint protection coating, and get ceramic film installed on your windows. The amount of tint doesn't matter. The ceramic decreases the heat coming into your truck.

    Welcome from LA (Lower Alabama)!

I also recommend downloading electronic version of the manuals since it is easier to search through when attempting to find stuff.

Consider an oil change at 1K miles and every 5K miles there after, I have done this on every new vehicle I have ever owned.

Thanks, man. No chrome and my stash is the dark chrome that’s almost black and I’m fine with it as-is. I do hate chrome though. Given the truck is silver, it makes the stash look better.
I’ll order the ceramic stuff now.

And install it before the warranty period ends…if anything is not right and you miss the warranty window, there’s no going back!
