Hi all, new to the forum and tundras. I am about to put a level kit and new tires on my tundra. I am taking an overlanding trip on the rimrocker trail and skyline drive in Utah and want to get the right setup. I am going to keeping my limited 20s and (I think) I am going with 275/65r20 Patagonia mt with Bilstein 5100 on the middle setting.i feel like 275/60 would be too small.

My question for you all is a) is this a good daily driver setup b) will there be much power loss with this size, c) will this be plenty capable off-road with this setup.

I don't want to change to 18s since my truck came with 20s. I think that tire size will be large enough to protect the wheels. This truck will see alot of moderate offroading in Moab and southern Utah but also is my daily driver.

That's a 34" tire and should look good. You may be able to tell a little difference in acceleration, but I imagine it would be fairly minimal, especially if you have he 5.7L. As for the actual tire, I haven't heard a lot about those Milestar Patagonia MT's, but I know they are on the cheaper end. I think a lot of jeep people may run them, but I couldn't begin to tell you how it will hold up over time and on trails. As with any MT, you are going to experience road noise as well.

I know these aren’t mud terrains but this is a 275/65/20 Michelin LTX. I thought it would be what I needed but sadly not. Was trying to save money sticking with factory wheels. Tomorrow ive got a set of 18’s going on with some 295/70/18. Just wanted less offset than the factory wheel and more sidewall. Hope this helped?

I think I am decided on 275/60r20 which is a 33. Considering the emergency that happened, I don't think I want to mess with levelling right now. Doesn't even look like I will be able to go..... My mom had a stroke and it looks like I will be down here awhile.

Sorry to hear about that, hope she can recover. Also anything is better than factory size.

Correct question is what the hell hit me. Some dumbass in my parents neighborhood thought it would be a good idea to drive a 5th wheel crewcab Dodge dually through narrow one way streets. In doing so when he turned he hit my truck with his rv and dragged it on in the road how it is Parker in that picture. On top of it all he took off after he did it and I had to chase him down on foot.

I don’t know the cost of that but if it’s cheaper than the OEM parts then they will.
I’ve seen this done several times.

I've been seeing the factory bumper assembly slightly dinged and used going for 780 , so I would imagine it would be .....especially considering all the frontudflaps and supports and fasteners etc all adds up

Well I finally have my truck fixed and life is starting to return to normal-ish. My mom is now in a nursing home and my dad will likely be moving in with my family. Decided on new tires today, for simplicity sake I went with 275/60r20 general grabber atx which are 33s . For now this choice works well didn't need to lift to fit. Really like these tires, no loss in power no weird shift points and speedometer is spot on. They look even better in person and are severe snow rated (living in utah is a plus as I am in the mountains a bunch in the winter)

Me too , they did a great job fixing it. 5900 in damage was the final tally but i got them to go back with all Toyota OEM parts.
As far as my parents go I had some really dark times getting through but I've come to accept the reality of what it is now, with the help of my wonderful wife and my uncle, and we are moving forward.

God always has a plan even when we feel as lost as a second litieunent in charge of land navigation.

Amen! I hear ya, I’m the one in my family taking care of the older generation, my grandmother has been gone 4 years and my father 2. Now I’m caring for my uncle who’s health is declining. Got to a point where I was so tired of watching people pass, but on the other hand it feels good knowing Ive spent time with them and tried to make their lives more comfortable. God always pulls through!
